  1. Yeah, I'm bad like that. Nothing major, I had the utg rail on it but didn't care for it. I cut the rail off, just leaving the scope rail part and the little wings that go down ny the iron sights. Then I drilled and screwed a couple rails onto the sides of the forend, used some washers to space them out pretty much parallel to each other. Some rail covers helped it look like a fake quad rail. At one time I had a carryhandle and front sight on it as well, it looked pretty cool. I have a new project now, since I picked up a nordic kit cheap from a New Yorker who can't have it anymore. I also noticed a cheap ssar15-ogr on ar15.com the other day, too cheap to say no. I have heard tell that they can be made to work together so long as you have a decent trigger. Hoping to find out this spring. A guy has to have his toys.
  2. I've been a member for a couple years now. Don't spend much time at the site anymore, but still support the group. Have met up with a few of the other members in the area, and we still email. Also noticed a couple of stickers on cars in the neighborhood. I'm also an NRA lifer and an RSO.
  3. Boy, everybody else got the good toys. I got the TS stock for my HiPoint 995, but it is all that I asked for. I took advantage of a couple of Palmetto's deals, got the trs-25 with the riser, and the older style Bushnell 1-4x24 AR optic. :thumb: My brother in law didn't get his usual bulk pack of 22lr from me, I wasn't going to spend $50 on 22 ammo for him. Instead, for half that I got him 90 rounds of 62 grain 5.56 American Eagle on strippers. My niece already claimed it as hers. He doesn't use his AR much, but the niece loves her Smith 15/22. If I buy them ammo for the AR, I know it will get shot. I just have to feed him enough rounds to get him hooked. ;D
  4. I dunno, bricks under 20 dollars....just how many beers have you had!?! (just kidding). Happy New Year everyone. I do hope that your wish comes true, for everyone's sake!
  5. CMMG makes good stuff...I have their 9mm upper. The Chiappa was a nice way to try the concept, and works well enough for me.
  6. That one isn't too old or very oily, and she loves to shoot it.
  7. I have a Chiappa upper, they were under 200 dollars when I got mine, a few years back anyways. I do recall seeing them for $199 during the Christmas rush this year too. Mine runs just fine, I use it mainly out to 50 yards, but three clicks on the rear sight elevation brings it on target at 100 yards. Sorry, I haven't shot for groups, but it seems accurate enough for my plinking.
  8. 10-22 in a doctored tapco The aimpoint didn't stay on it for long. Fast twist (1 in 9") barrel for shooting 60 grain sub-sonics. This one is a lot of fun, quiet too. The suppressor is a fake, but people believe it is real, the 60 grain rounds are so quiet.
  9. No cool toys coming here, though I do have a TRS-25 with the AR riser on the way, and the Bushnell 1-4x24 AR/223 scope on order. One of those will likely end up on my recently acquired Nordic kit. The wife got me a TS stock for my old and ugly HiPoint 995 carbine this Christmas. Guess what I was working on Christmas morning? Those carbines are a blast and a half.
  10. Thanks everyone! Yeah, I have a pretty good variety of .22's, as well as the other stuff. I try to keep to the more popular (easily available) calibers, it was that way with .22 lr for the first four decades that I shot it anyways. The price increases with it coming back to the shelves are a bit depressing.
  11. New here, not so new to 22's. Always looking for new ideas. Looking forward to getting out and doing some shooting this spring, the winter slows my ambitions. I have a couple new toys to play with as well. Picked up a Nordic for one of my 10/22's, Christmas present to myself. Have another that I put in the Magnum Tech stock for a light plinker. Also, Palmetto had a great price on a 1911 conversion so I had to pick that up, my only other 22 handgun is a Mark II Target. With 22 ammo coming back into availability these should get a good ringing out this summer. I do have a 10/22 in a Tapco already, can you tell I like the 10/22? Granted, I have other 22's besides Rugers. I just enjoy shooting, and fortunately my wife sees the therapeutic value in a day at the range. She enjoys it herself. I am looking forward to checking out everyone here's tips, tricks, and of course, the gun porn!
