Around here it seems to be a rule or something, every time I get a few bucks ratholed for some toy or stuffed into the stash to build my '56, somehow or another the fickle finger of fate finds out, and implements some crisis or another that requires at least all of my stash $ to make right. I am gonna get that truck built, though. One way or t'other.

HK 416 D .22 Tactical Rimfire First Glimpse
Sam 8 replied to imschur's topic in HK 416 D .22 Tactical Rimfire
Sure wish we could get some info on this thing. I am holding off making any decisions until it hits the market and there is some feed back on it. -
Sounds like you might be in Ca., where the nazis at CARB have regulated these things down to zero emissions, the problem is they no longer run. What you are describing sounds like a lean surge, which means they have the engine tuned to run on the ragged edge of lean, no fuel means clean. You need to get creative about sourcing a 48-state solution. Or maybe the carb could be "rebuilt" using other parts.... >:D

Gotta go down to the city and find some new shoes, I am putting in upwards of 20 miles a week on the treadmill and I need some good kicks. Clean up the shop and do some more research on parts for my 56 F-100 which is next on the list of things to do. It has only been waiting about 34 years. ::) BBQ Monday afternoon with some friends.

Have fun with the AR Mike! I ordered a Gamo Hunter Extreme. Cheapest by far was Amazon, beleive it or not. they had it for under $350. I am already researching tuners for it.

I read you loud and clear, and agree on the small caliber fun shooting point, heck I just ordered a new high powered Air rifle, LOL. I love the classics and just had to speak up. Have fun with the .223, I love mine.

I am a newbie here Mike and you don't know me from a hot rock. That said, I gotta be the voice crying in the wilderness, and say I don't think I could part with a rifle like that, (a Garand), even if it wasn't going to be a daily or weekly shooter, or if I only put 50 rounds or so a year through it. There are some firearms that are just to cool to let go of, and in my view, that there unit is one of them. Humbly; S-8

You have done the right thing, offering to repair the bolt. TechMike is right, warranty is null and void if non factory ammo exceeding factory pressures has been fired through the weapon. Frankly, I'd wonder if the bolt seizing in the locks is a symtom of a distorted receiver. Even if he accepted your offer to repair the bolt the damage is beyond that, and sure as heck not your fault. The guy is being a bonehead, and you cannot fix that.

First was a Ruger Single-Six, with both the LR and magnum cylinders. It was a gift from my Dad when I moved out at 17. He knew I was not moving into a "good area" and he didn't want me to be without some type of legit home defense firearm,(other than a deer rifle). So he gave me his pistol. Mind you, this was about 1977, I'd been through hunter Safety school, and had a .243 Rifle, so guns were a second nature. Still have the .22, and the .243. I

Here is the one I did about a year ago, was gonna sell but I really like this rifle for some reason so I think it is going to stay. Not fancy or high end parts, but functional as heck. I have no complaints at all about the BC barrel, (only used Green Mountain before) and the Mueller APV is a great scope for the $. I will buy more scopes from them. It has the stock rec'r. and trigger group, but the that and bolt may still see some change, after I get my Tactical .22 ;D

HK 416 D .22 Tactical Rimfire First Glimpse

Sounds like the street price is going to be around 7 then, about the same as the Colt. Then I have to deal with the Kalifornia price, too. Please give us some feedback on it when you get it!! -
I was actual looking for a new pair of shoes...Honest  Anyway, much to my shock they had two Colts, a Ruger SR 22 and a Remington, I believe it was a 597 VTR or something. It didn't do much for me. I tracked down one of their skilled employees, and fondled both Colts. The flattop version was $749, the carry handle M-4 Clone was $649. Apparently they were on sale 50 bucks or so off last week. Rotsa money for a guy with hot rod projects sucking the $ out of my wallet every time I open the door to the shop. But I want one. They both felt very good , like old friends. The guy would not let me fiddle with the action but the forward assist moves and appears like it might have some function. Anyway, I managed to get out of there without pulling out the plastic. I really want to see the H&K before I commit, and the S&W deserves a look based on all the happy owners I see here. Gotta find a store with an H&K on the shelf, which means I will have to get off the mountain, which I avoid like the plague. But, I have a reason, now. ;D

I would suspect the "Special Run" from Ruger. I can't recall ever seeing an aftermarket stock like that, but there are millions of them so who knows.

Thanks for the welcome, guys. Asmurff, I am no expert on the little Ruger either; opinions on these things are like belly buttons, you know? Everybody's got one. I have mine and will share when it makes sense, but I've built far more small block chevy V-8's than I have 10-22's and I am still learning about those, too.

I've been a member for many years, too many to count. Although I am not always happy with every move they make, the truth is we would have lost many more rights without the NRA. The NRA tends to keep a watchful on on peoplewho need it. When not happy, I always write an email to voice my concern, and I educate myself about the NRA elections to try to support those who seem most likely to share my views. It all comes down to involvement.

hello, Sam 8 from the northeastern area of the People's Republic of Kalifornia. Retired guy with some disabilities, I love to shoot, play with guns, and fiddle with the internal combustion engine bolted into just about anything. I have done a couple of 10-22's and still have my favorite, stock internals dropped into a Hogue Overmolded with a BC .920 fluted triported barrel and a 4.5x14 mueller. It eats anything and can hit pretty regular to 200 yards, which seems to surprise some folks. I'd like a Kidd trigger group but after a couple thousand rounds I am not sure I want to mess wth it. Now I am saving for a tactical, leaning towards the Colt but not sure yet. I was certain I needed a Sg Mosqutio until all these cool little rifles started hitting the market. Now, I still know I need the Sig, I just think I need another rifle first...
