  1. FS2KSTD, If you have never used a micro, I would try this first. The Vortex SPARC I just got in the Vortex SPARC. I like it for out of the box looking. I will have it on the range soon and will let you know if its worth a crap or not. But for $200 for a red dot, mount, and all the trimmings you can not bet it. For a optic on a rifle to see if I like the micro size optics. factory Link and I got it at LINK for $199 shipped. For the past 13 years I have used AimPoints or EO-Tech's and to be honest, this little window is going to take some time to get use too. But I like it so far, and $200 shipped is a lot cheaper then a Micro and a good mount to "try out" for me. Hope this helps some.
  2. The M4 was only for the coolest of the cool in the U.S. Army until 1997. In Mat of 1997 RTO's, PL's and PLT SGT's got M4's in the 82nd Airborne Div. By the time we deployed to Egypt in 1998 the whole Batt had them. And its been issued out one Batt at a time since. The accuracy issues is not from the barrel length is from the sight radius. On a M4 the gas block is at 9" past the upper receiver compared to the M16 at 14" Thats a heck of a diff in the ability to deploy iron sights. BUT if you run a Dissipator upper, you get the same level of accuracy on a short barreled upper like the M16. So thats that.
  3. I have one and like it. The key to use one is to use the sling and the MagPul AFG together. If you have a side mounted sling far forward, and the AFG two slots behind it on the bottom its works like a hand stop in HP or Any-Any rifles. Its a great tool.
