I would love to do this; however, I have open sites, and I'd have to travel at least an hour to an outdoor range here in the Peoples Republic of California to find 25 yards, etc. It is a cool idea and I look forward to the results. Good luck folks.

Thanks TM and wobblinwheel (WW)! Great input. TM - My pdf manual from last year does not say that. I can't remember if it was from the cleaning video or my hard copy manual that's a couple years old, I'll have to dig it out. I do remember it was all in or out, I thought that was strange. I will readjust everything to about 4 turns in from flush. I also understand your bumper material advice, good point. WW - Good idea on the spring I'll order one. How much did that set you back?
-
That would by link here. http://tactical22.net/forum/colt-umarex-general/broken-bumper-on-colt-22-m16/ Now I'm really baffled. My manual says to screw it in all the way. I thought I did that the first time, not wanting to damage anything I was a little cautious. After about another 1,500 or so rounds I see I have another broken bumper. I adjusted the spring in about another 3 full turns or so. It keeps going, didn't stop; however, I can really feel the difference in spring tension on the bolt. I may back it off a bit if it misfires. BTW – I ordered two bumpers to avoid shipping costs for when it happens again. $20 out the door I think he said $7/each. I think Umarex should make the bumpers out of brass or aluminum.

Ok, this happened again. Two observations: 1. Seems to happen about every 1,500 rounds give or take a few hundred rounds. 2. I thought I had screwed in the bolt spring screw all the way to prevent this. I checked it this time cleaning and it kept going, and going, and going.... I never did get it to stop I was afraid of going too far. I did notice a considerable change in the tension or spring back of the bolt as I pulled it back and released it. So, I'll call Umarex again and ask them for another one. I wish they'd use either aluminum or brass for durability. Anyone else having this issue?

Has this happened to anyone else? I have run about 2K rounds thru this so far, with not one jam. I field stripped my trusty reliable and very fun Colt (Umerex) Tactical .22 M16, upon breaking it open a part fell out. I was shocked, then realized it was the rear “plastic†bumper P/N 576.20.09.1. I have no clue why they used plastic and not aluminum of another softer metallic part. New bumper is pictured with the broken bumper. Plastic bumper P/N 576.20.09.1 part is referenced here as #63 from the manual. This was still under warranty, I phoned Umerex, and they sent me out another bumper no charge. Great service. I use High Velocity .22 ammo; however, I have not adjusted the bolt speed from the stock setting. It works great as is, but do you think this contributed to the demise of the bumper?

Need 1 inch long cleaning brush for breach cleaning
Plinkster replied to Plinkster's topic in Colt Umarex General
Sorry, I've been away from the forum for quite some time. I just wanted to update all ya'll on this thread. As posted, Otis did send me my .177 brush, longer cable, and some other little goodies for cleaning, free, postage paid. All works great now, no issues. Thanks everyone for your help. :thumb: -
Need 1 inch long cleaning brush for breach cleaning
Plinkster replied to Plinkster's topic in Colt Umarex General
Here’s the new skinny on limited breech cleaning (under two inches per OTiS). If using the OTiS Cleaning System and you have a limited breech you’ll want to use the #100 kit for .177 with the 321 short brush (in the picture I showed previously). According to OTiS this will do the job. Something I found out while researching this. The 321 short brush threads are 5-40 and will only work on the .177 flex cleaning rod. The other .22-.30 caliber rods are larger in diameter and have longer couplings and the threads are 8-32. I E-mailed OTiS and told them I had bought two kits (one kit was too short, it came with three small flex rods and noting was supplied to connect them) both .22 caliber and above and numerous brushes and nothing was working. The great service they have at OTiS, they will be sending me a .177 flex rod and brush for free since I’ve already purchased a kit. It would have been nice if they explained all this on their website. I also asked why they couldn’t offer a stud for attaching two flex rods together to make it longer, no word back on that suggestion. I’ll go to the local hardware store and get some and do that. I also asked if that would be a problem linking two together, they never addressed this in my E-mail to them. I’ll let you know how it all works out when I receive the new items. -
Need 1 inch long cleaning brush for breach cleaning
Plinkster replied to Plinkster's topic in Colt Umarex General
Thanks Techmike. I was looking into this one, and it may be too large also. I'l lhave to call the place up and see if the length is 1 inch or less. asmurff - Bending... How did you bend it? I don't want it too bent and get jammed or anything. Does anyone else have issue with breach cleaning without removing the bolt? Do most muzzle clean it? Thanks. -
Thanks Techmike. As soon as I joined and logged on, I had full access to download the ppt file. Thanks, great stuff.

I'm not able to find a one inch long cleaning brush for breach cleaning the Colt T22 M16, using the Otis flex rod kit. I didn't want to modify a brush I thought the bristles would just fall out. the Umarex website has nothing. Any advice on where to purchase one or two brushes (part number and vendor if you can) that will work? Thanks.

Colt/Umarex/Walther Tactical .22 Ammo Thread
Plinkster replied to SCORPiON5150's topic in Colt Umarex General
I've run about 500 rounds of CCI Blazer thru mine. I like cheap ammo and I've only had one misfire, zero jams. After waiting a bit I re-racked it, and it went off no worries. Although it’s a little dirty. I’m glad this works for this application. I’d be rather upset if I had to use very high end premium ammo, might as well have the big boy and pay big $$for the big boy ammo. My whole point is to lower my costs and still have fun. ;D -
Colt Umarex M4 .22LR Cleaning Instructions
Plinkster replied to imschur's topic in Colt Umarex General
Big props to Techmike for posting this. Not sure I'll attempt it (I won't go into a time when I wasn't thinking and let a spring loaded part fly across my garage never to be found), but good to know and have the knowledge. Also thanks to imschur for posting TM's great ppt file. :thumb: -
Hello T22.net’ers. The last thing I need is to join another forum, but usually there is a great bunch of folks and a plethora of excellent information. Got my Colt M16 T22 a few weeks back, love it. Nasty pull on the trigger but oh well. I read about getting that fixed on this forum. This puppy was dialed in pretty well from the factory. First round at 25 feet was a bulls eye (off hand, I know lucky shot)! Holds a fairly tight group. I’ve run about 500 rounds thru it, one miss fire no jams. I cleaned it the other day and needless to say I don’t like the manuals cleaning guide. I found some info on this board, but could not access the ppt file to open it, so I thought I’d join your nice board here to try and retrieve it. Your virtual house is very nicely set up, good job to the Admins. I had to clean it muzzle end this time, how do you all do it? I also am looking for a brush to breach clean the barrel that’s only 1†long total. I bought the smallest brush I could find and using the Otis flex cleaning rod, I could no way get it into the breach, not even pulling back on the bolt. Not a prayer. Hope to learn more and see what other trick stuff ya have.
