  1. Try Scheel's?
  2. You state "many of the better AR-12 22s" will accept centerfire uppers. Too bad Colt isn't on the list. I like the 22 cal Colt M4 OPS I have but shame on me, I should have done more research on the subject. I don't have a need for a centerfire upper but it would be nice to have that capability. It's just more of the idea of having a "real" AR platform as opposed to a gun that looks to be one but really isn't. I'll make admission. I bought my Colt from Wal*Mart. I know the associate very well and he's the owner of 7 AR centerfires(for what reason I don't know). Anyhow he claims to have swapped uppers on the Colt and S&W and they "fit". He was not able to actually fire them. And of course you can't return guns to W*M. As I stated before, I like the Colt but.......
  3. Are any of the 22 cal AR/M4 carbines capable of switching their 22 cal upper with a centerfire upper? This includes S&W HK, Mossberg and all the others. I've gotten various opinions on the subject.
  4. What kind of centerfire stuff be added?
  5. So I want to follow a rule of thumb. As far as compatibility between the 22 cal Colt M4 and all other caliber AR 15 platforms the following is true? Only equipment that can be fitted to the picatinny rail is compatible between the 22 cal Colt any any other "AR15" platform? No other add-on features are compatible with the Colt? That includes stocks, hand grips upper/lower sections. And of course any "guts" of the gun. True?
  6. Thanks for the info! My problem is when mounting a reflex sight on the rail which also has a rear iron sight such as the Colt, the iron sight gets in the way of the reflex. It looks like I have to raise the reflex so I see thru it and not be obstructed by the rear iron sight. If I mount it on the same rail as the rear iron sight, I have to remove the rear iron sight to make the reflex usable. I hope I make sense!
  7. OK, help me out here. My plan is to use a 1" riser to mount the reflex sight a couple of inches before the rear iron sight. The idea is to enable me to still use the iron sights and also use the reflex. I don't use the front sight in conjunction with the reflex do I?
  8. I went to the range for the first time and my M4 OPS worked great! No jams using Federal. My only issue at this time is the trigger pull. How easy is it to remove the trigger assembly? If removed does it affect other parts of the gun? Example is if the pistol grip is removed doesn't that affect the tightness of the upper/lower, barrel, etc?
  9. Variety is the "spice of life"!
  10. I have a Sightmark 13003 optical sight. I'm going to mount it to my Colt 22 M4 OPS. When I remove the rear iron sight and mount the 13003 sight can it be mounted high enough to clear the front sight? If so how?
  11. Hopefully it would expend the length so I'd have a more suitable stance. I feel too crouched over the short stock. Recoil is not an issue as there is none.
  12. Took my new Colt M4 OPS to the range for the first time yesterday. Shot 200 rounds of Federal w/o a hiccup. I want to add a butt stock pad. Any suggestions?
  13. The cleaning instruction steps found in another "sticky" post on this forum goes into breaking down the Colt beyond what the manufacturer recommends to do more through cleaning. Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any detailed instructions on a "basic" clean other than "clean the barrel" and breach. I guess I've been used to clean guns from the breach. I'll do the muzzle if there are no other alternatives.
  14. I should have asked "how do you clean your Colt"? I think a problem with a bore snake is after several or many uses the snake is fouled and cleaning the snake is an issue.
  15. Brought my new Colt 22 cal M4 OPS home yesterday afternoon. I tried cleaning the gun barrel from the breach with an Otis flexible rod kit. I opened the receiver, oops I thought as I attempted to insert the brass fitting into the breach. There's not enough clearance (the bolt to barrel) opening to insert the end of the Otis flex rod! OK, assuming you are cleaning the barrel from the breach, how do you do it without taking the slide action and bolt out of the thing? At this point my only option is to insert a cleaning rod from the muzzle end to clean the barrel. I knew from reading up on the subject the Colt was not as easy to clean as other 22 ARs but I didn't consider this to be an issue because the issue was not brought up or at least it flew by me!
  16. Just picked up my 22 cal Colt M4 OPS from Wal*Mart. Is Federal ammo OK?
  17. Concerning a issue with ammo and gun barrel problems. I don't own an M4 but it appeared to me from watching videos that the "inner barrel" seems to be a little wimpy, that is small in diameter...more of a BB gun type. I do plan to but an M4 as I have one on layaway at Wal*Mart. Why is an outer and inner barrel scheme needed? Is the M4 barrel as far as mass goes similar to any other 22 cal AR platform?
  18. Nice upgrades on your carbine! Could you list what you've done? The guy in Colo. How do I contact him? Thanks
  19. What type of "upgrade" AR15 add on parts can be used on the Colt 22 cal m4 OPS gun?
  20. scope or red dot type optical for the Colt 22 cal M4. Thank you
  21. a forum that does not bad mouth the 22 cal Colt m4 carbine! I plan to purchase one (OPS version) in the near term. At this point I'll be reading all the posts here to "ramp up" on my knowledge of the gun.
