Where ever I find a deal, sometime Optic Planet, sometimes Natchez, sometimes Amazon. As far as gun shows, well I live in RI and there hasn't been a show here in 30 years. I do miss them.
Of course the intonation will be off if you raise the string height, reintonate after raising the string. If you don't like the high strings then you need to add relief to the neck. Before you replace the nut add some graphite to the slots and see where the string sits. String should not be buried in the nut if it is you can still save the nut using talcum powder and super glue. Use very little and do this before adding graphite. If the string is less than halfway into the nut you may have to file it out a little. Make little hacksaws using car feeler gauges for the correct gauge. Make small adjustments at any one time especially on the truss rod. Give it time to set. Use a new set of strings before you start doing all of this. Hope this helps.
I don't hunt anymore but I support those that do and I like venison. I'm not against using an airgun to hunt but why use something that has minimal knock down power on something like a hog. Many of the big bore airguns don't give you more than 3 shots before you have to top off the tank so that means you have to carry around a small lightweight carbon tank for refilling (very expensive). Many people don't even like using a 223 for hog hunting and that has 4 to 5 times the knockdown power of an airgun. Clean quick kills are desired in any hunting situation. Rarely do you get these with an Airgun unless it is small game. Where hogs are hunted firearms are usually allowed and are preferred. Of course airguns are more complex and require much more tinkering than most firearms. I had to ask myself why bother. With the scarcity of 22 ammo some are using AG's more to hunt small game, when it goes to medium size and large game I'd rather stick with powder burners. It just seems more humane.
I bought the Sumatra 22 from this guy who also took a hog with it. Here is his video.
He has several videos of hog hunts with airguns. I'd just as soon use an AR 15 or LR308 and have the extra backup shots. These day you can buy a Ruger American in 308 cheaper than an Airgun.
I had lost my mind a few years ago and went overboard on the airgun thing. Could have bought several nice 308's with what I spent on AG's. Well I have the 308's anyways and I also now have the AG's. I have both the Gamo Hunter Extreme and the RWS 52. The Gamo is highly modded and a bear to cock. I think the 52 has more power and is the better rifle. I have two Walther Falcon hunters in 22 and 25 caliber and am not impressed here either. On one the stock broke right at the wrist on an easy cock. One of the best values out there is the MRod in the caliber of your choice. Fairly quiet and has high power and accuracy. Like to hunt get a Sumatra very powerful and light but loud. I did manage to get a B-50 and a B-51 Bam from Big Ed in a stage two mod, one with a shroud that works excellent. These are great guns if you can find one. I know I went off track as this was about springers. I get carried away when I start talking about AG's.
Yeah, too many and that wasn't all of them. I gave at least a half dozen to my grandson. Mostly the 177's. I was hanging out at the GTA and the Yellow and deals kept popping up. I should trim it down some as they just don't get shot. It all comes down to I usually shoot at my club and if I'm going there I may as well bring the powder burners which I also have too many of.
Had a 50 cal dragon slayer air rifle. Only got about 3 full power shots on a fill. I wasn't that impressed for the amount of money I had in it so I sold it. I still have a sam yang 9mm gets a few more shots per fill, pretty loud. I like the 25 cals better, Samutras, M Rods, even have a 25 caliber Walther Magnum Springer. I kinda went overboard.
Just an old shooter getting here late to the party. Always liked 22's and modified a few rugers. Found this place through the 308 forum. Good bunch over there. Like guitars, big bikes, and RC powered Gliders also. Why is there so little spare time?
