  1. I've been shooting the 40 grain plated hollowpoints for a few months now and they group very well. The cavernous hollowpoint and the advertised, but not quite accurate 1280 fps make this my candidate for larger animals like raccoons. Surprisingly they shoot to the same point of aim at 25 and 50 yards as the CCI subsonics which are my choice for smaller animals like squirrel and rabbits.
  2. Hi I live in the Northwest Chicago suburbs. I am a middle-aged guy with a wife and two kids, my primary passion is bowhunting. Shooting and hunting with a gun run a close second. I belong to a private gun club in Northwest Illinois, not too far from where my camper is permanently parked so I am able to shoot once or twice a month depending on the time of year. Living near a big city the opportunities for rifle shooting are slim. I started shooting a handgun at 20 years old and for the majority of my adult life I shot handguns almost exclusively. Now I shoot .22's 90% of the time. First was a Henry standard model, so much fun to shoot and by my standards, very accurate. Next came a Ruger MkII that now has somewhere around 5000 rounds through it with no mechanical malfunctions. Afew dud rounds but never a FTF, or FTE. My latest .22 favorite is my Sig 522. Simply a great .22 autoloader. Rimfire shooting is a great way to practice marksmanship and for me, a great way to spend time with the kids plinking away the hours.
  3. I've had mine to the range three times now. The first two trips were just banging away to break it in and some fun plinking with my kids. It has a Millet SP-1 red dot and a Gripod vfg/bipod. This past weekend I took to the 50 yard range and set up some 8" shoot-n-c targets. At 50 yards the #2 setting on the Millet covers the center bull on the target so I was shooting for minute of 1-1/4" circle. I had a smattering of assorted ammo to use, cloudy skys and no wind to speak of. My methods and results are not to be considered a scientific summary by any stretch of the imagination. CCI 36 gn hollowpoints, Strangely very wild groups. None better than 3" Federal 510 40gn solids, very good accuracy. 1-1/4" groups. Federal bulk pack 36gn hollowpoint, again very wild groups. Most right around 2" with some flyers. CCI Subsonic 40gn hollowpoint, excellent. Groups right at 1" with much less report. Winchester Super-X 40gn plated hollowpoint, more exellence. Same groups and poi as the CCI Subs with a ginormous hollowpoint cavity. Remington Viper 36gn Trunctuated Cone, craptacular. Excessive recoil and wildly innacurate. So it seems this particular gun with this setup prefers the 40gn bullets. Once I get a scope on it we'll see just how good it can be. I expect much. How about you?
