I've used Thunderbolt in my rifles (bolt action and semi-auto) and pistols and revolvers. With the revolvers and bolt actions, no problem except for the occassional failure-to-fire (1 or 2 out of a hundred). Once my pistol or semi-auto rifle gets a little dirty (150-200 rounds), I start having failure-to-feed and failure-to-eject problems. Once I use up the remaining Thunderbolt, probably will not by again unless it's on a great sale price.
In Albuquerque, Walmart sells Federal Lightning (501-B) in Red/Silver boxes of 50 rounds for $1.47 each. Its a 40 grain, solid nose lead bullet. Comes to $14.70 for 500 rounds. I have many 22 LR pistols, revolvers, rifles and semi-autos and have had very few problems with failure-to-fire, failure-to-feed, or failure-to-eject. It's a great deal.
