I'm still a fan of the double barrel... Stoeger http://www.stoegerindustries.com has two versions that would fit the bill for me. The "Double Defense" (side by side) and the "Condor Outback" (over -n- under), both are short enough to use in a close quarter encounter with an intruder yet if need be a capable field gun in taking game for survival purposes. Even though the O/U has rifle sights the S/S with picatinny rails really grabs me.
One of the best reactionary targets I've used is Golf Balls... The 22lr will make the balls jump without tearing it up too much. I'd throw a ball out about 15 to 20 feet then start plinking. A direct hit will make the ball jump further away increasing the challenge. Where I was shooting the range was sand so the balls would at times fall into a foot print, the trick here would be to shoot through the sand to hit the ball and move it to a better location. We would start shooting with our pistols and then switch to rifles when the balls were out there a ways. These are excellent trainers as you learn how your gun shoots at various ranges and the use of Kentucky windage. I had six ball in my range bag that lasted a couple years before they became too ragged. Yes, centerfire cartridges do tear them up quite quickly.
I've been looking at the Ruger Charger along with reading a couple reviews from the gun mag guys. I'd like to hear a little input from real people who have one or took one for a spin at the range. Are they fun or fluff?
Now lets see if they can make a 22LR version of the LCP too? They should be able to fit 15 rounds (double stacked) in the 380 sized mag. Wouldn't that just be cool. :thumb:
This is the EXACT root of how Apartheid started in South Africa. Someone wanted to give the non citizens a say in how the community government was run...it then expanded to a national platform, that over ran the citizenship rights groups with an ignorant global outrage backing it up. This Mayor needs to have a swift kick in the ass and rail to be ridden out of town on. Tar and feather party may be in order too. Make it a well publicized event so no other politician will mistakenly even think such a thing is possible. Sorry, this put a burr under my saddle. Grrrr.
I like the looks of the M&P15/22 but wasn't sure the tactical format would do what I want. Then again, I can have a whole lot of fun trying and still have a cool setup. The fun factor actually out weighs any MOA capabilities.
Good input so far .... shows potential for printing decent groups out to near a .22LR's limits. I'll be adding a scope to the package when I place my order. I like to push the edges of these limits just to see what can be done. Its surprising what a 22 can do on a calm day at 100yds. I now need optics to do what I did with open sights 30 years ago though.
I had one of these... It loved Winchester Super X... Tack driver and reliable. Good combat trainer. They were hard to find I've only seen the one I owned, 422's and 622's were all over the place and felt too light in the hand.
Who makes trigger sets for the M&P 15/22? What are the up grade options? I've heard that it can be done, but there were no specifics in the write ups. Will any AR unit drop in?
Ok, I'm a accuracy freak. I like to plink at targets out there a ways... 50, 75, and 100yrds. One of my biggest questions is what kind of groups are you getting with your M&P15/22... at what distance? Open sights / scoped? I'm not expecting MOA but I'd like to be able to place some tightish groups down range. What's your experience?
Moved to NH a little over a year ago. Loving it here. The time has come to start rebuilding my 22 collection and I see something Tactical in my future. Although I narrowed it down to two my mind hasn't settled on which one to get as of yet. Questions still loom and this site has been presented as the best place to find these answers. My delema ... a Ruger Tactical 10/22 or a S&W M&P 15/22 MOE ... yes I know there is a vast difference in these two ... You will see me in the related areas primarily, but I know I will be lurking in the hand gun areas as well. I've had almost every configuration of a 22lr but a Tactical version. Bolt, single shot, semi auto, rifles, SA & DA revolvers, and semi auto, pistols. Foolishly sold them all off with a few regrets. Kind of excited about getting re-started. Looking forward to getting to know all of you here on Tactical22.net.
