  1. Excellent advice. Thanx
  2. Hey, thanx for the pics. What I don't see is the buffer tube collar nut, so I presume it comes off with the tube, which will serve my purposes. I think that my sling and mount should arrive this week. I'll post some pics when I complete the build. Update: I received all my parts today (actually, over the last three days but I was away from work where they were delivered) and it looks like an easy install for the single point sling as well as my old scope from my Mosin Nagant. I'll be working on my piece tonight and should have a few pictures soon.
  3. I was able to go out and shoot my new M4 .22lr this afternoon and it was very very nice. Took me about thirty shots, 3 X 10 round mags, to get the sights dialed in and then I was able to make that spinner dance. I put it out at 50 yards but that's as far as I can shoot iron sights because I can't see the target further than that. It was a real pleasure to fire away and hit the mark with such confidence. I plan on mounting a scope later on and that should give me the ability to reach out over 100 yards without problems. I'm looking forward to that! This sure is a sweet gun.
  4. I've been trying to find out more about the airsoft product line but have not had much luck. It might be handy to have a sticky at the top of this thread for links to places that have the good stuff.
  5. What holds the sling mount in place? It looks like the buffer tube collar would hold the sling mount tight to the stock...I guess I'll have to wait for the mount to arrive to understand. Thanks for the information. The bird dog boys have been using the range for trials both last weekend and this. I hope to get out to shoot soon. I love the look and feel of this gun and have also ordered the rail risers for my weaver mount scope. I'll get some pictures when I get my mods added.
  6. I like the way you think. Yum!
  7. Yup, that's a good one...
  8. I also have a pistol scope with Extended Eye Relief that I used on my Mosin Nagant. I've must ordered the adaptor for the weaver mounts and will see how this works out. Update: I was unable to mount my scope because the EER was too far away for the length of my M4.
  9. My brand new M4 Ops works for now, but it's easy to see that it will wear and become non-latching. The latch doesn't have the spring built into the cover, so it looks like it'd wear down and fail to latch in short order.
  10. Ok, I'm a freak about naming things. I find it especially helpful, in conversation, to be able to refer to something by name. I've named my dog, my horse, my car, my truck, and my Stevens rifle, named Samantha. Last night my Colt spoke to tell me her name: Sting >:D - like a bee that will sting you if'n your not careful. What about you?
  11. Excellent! Thanks for the advice. I can't see those links from work but I will use them this weekend.
  12. I have my new Colt and haven't fired a single round yet, but am thinking about upgrading the sights to a Red Dot. This is a low budget build so I am looking for a recommendation on an inexpensive Red Dot scope for my baby. Anyone here have a recommendation?
  13. From what I have been able to glean from other conversations, the Magpul ASAP AEG will fit correctly to the Colt M4 Ops .22lr. However, I am not sure about how to install. My first inclination is the spin the stock nut ring, but further research suggsted that the ring isn't holding the stock. Instead, there is a bolt somewhere that is hold the stock on? But, I still want to install the ASAP under the stock ring, so, here's the question: where is the bolt holding the stock on and which stock wrench will remove the stock ring? I have found the ASAP as well as a Single/Double sling on eBay but I don't want to purchase until I know that I can get it mounted.
  14. Had a chance to pick my new toy up yesterday, so I took the opportunity. Nice piece. Can't wait to get out there and kill some targets. Get to know my new girl and waiting for her to tell me her name...'cause, you know, every gun has a name.
  15. I'll be picking my NIB OPS next week and I'm looking forward to ownership including this little adaptor as a positive extra!
  16. I had ordered and waited for Bud's Gun Shop to email me when my new Colt would be ready for pickup. They are almost completely out of anything that resembles an AR so I ordered mine on Monday and I have just recevied the confirm email that it's ready for pickup. Unfortunately for me, I won't be able to get to Lexington to pick it up for one week. That'll test my patience...Can't wait, can't wait!
  17. I bought three from Wholesale Hunter to give me four, IF they ever arrive. Here's to optimism!
  18. I just placed an order with Wholesale Hunter for both the 10 round, which they have in stock, and the 30 round that is on back order. I happy to wait if they can ship next year as promised. These are the best prices I could find. http://www.wholesalehunter.com/product.asp?productid=62461
  19. New guy stumblin' around in the dark here. Just found this site and it looks great. Just ordered a Colt M4 Ops .22lr and waiting for dealer to notify me it's ready for pickup. Saw someone else posted information about a Advantage Arms conversion kit for my Glock. That bit of information makes this site invaluable to me. I'm looking forward to find more great stuff here.
  20. Very glad to find this site, meet you, and read about the AA conversion kit. Best information I could have found. So very glad to have stumbled in here...hahaha.
