  1. Firstly, I am sure you are happier with the weather than I am in Michigan. Where I am it is currently 3 degrees with a wind chill factor of -10 degrees. These 22 replicas are fantastic, the only problem for me is finding .22lr ammo. Never thought I would see that. And yes, I too believe it's far from being over. As I am typing this, there appears to be have been a stooting at Lone Star school.
  2. I just ordered. Midway has a limit of 2 magazines per customer.
  3. I've been searching for a mag for what seems forever. I just noticed that 44mag.com had them for $59.95. Within 2 minutes....BANG!....Sold Out Does anyone know where I can find one? Heck, just a few months ago CDNN had them for $19.95 NUTZ
  4. What I love about Texas is that they were their own Republic before joining the Union. What most don’t realize is that they have a statute in their Constitution that allows for succession from that Union of States. This is unlike the ’92 Assault Weapons ban. They grand fathered “pre†weapons, and you could still have magazines over 10 rounds, they just stopped making them. It wasn’t a federal crime to be caught with an AK magazine, they just cost a ton. We have joined the UN in worldwide gun control, and unlike any other time in recent history, there is no middle ground. There are MSNBC people and there are FOX news people. The propaganda machine is working overtime-creating lies by the truckload. I’m not suggesting there could be another incident like Ruby Ridge, I’m guaranteeing it, and that scares the hell out of me. It is like healthcare. Once Obama sinks his teeth into an issue, he keeps pushing regardless of what the American people want. Fast~n~Furious didn’t work out the way they wanted, and all they need is one more wack-job to commit another incident to push it over the cliff. “There are two ways to conquer and enslave a country. One is by the sword. The other is by debt.†~ John Adams
  5. Time to move to Texas
  6. If you own the .223/5.56mm brother to our personal choiced 22lr smaller brothers, God help you if want a magazine from Magpul. I was watching a Gunbroker auction for 10 plain jane gen2's and the final price was $655.00 Looking at eBay (I thought selling mags was against their policy), I've seen sales at or above $100.00 for a single plastic mag. Now I use them, and used to buy them when they were $12 bucks but Holy Hanny!!!! I just read an article that says Magpul has a million mag backorder. Worth more than Gold these things are. I thing I still have about a dozen that I haven't taken out of the plastic. I almost want to list these and take the profits and buy another 22. I already have the H&K, but htink of the possibilities??? 12 cheap mags for a real S&W, Colt, or even another H&K. I problem is like rolling the dice. After listening to the collective morons on MSNBC and some internet study, I think Obama might slide on the rifles, but I don't think he's going to let off the magazines. Kind of a poll.... What to you think? Magazines - Cool Down or Heat Up
  7. Do most believe that Ruger has maintained the quality of the 10/22 from years of production. I just have to repeat myself, since I put my hands on the stainless model, I JUST HAVE TO HAVE ONE. When I first saw the initial models, the receiver was just a plain finished aluminum. Now with the texture, it's just damn beautiful. The model I played with was a black poly sporter stock. I was hoping they would have made it up with the original carbine stock. You know, it just fits like a old pair of jeans. I still want to get it, just will have to search out what's out there.
  8. I shoot a pre warning walnut (not birch) carbine. It's my go to gun when a varmit is giving me trouble. Lately I've noticed that Ruger has a nice textured receiver on their stainless rifles. Do they make a poly black carbine stock or just the sporter I saw in the gun store?
  9. Some things we have no control over like .223 as an example . The government has given huge contracts to all the major manufacturers. This has been a problem that started to show itself even before CT. With Obama, it is like healthcare. He kept pushing the propaganda machine, i.e, MSNBC until he finally got what he wanted. Fast and Furious didn't work out quite the way he intended, so he sat back and waited for another opportunity. I like most Americans believe this guy will not stop until he gets what he wants. Hard to blame the gun community for trying to cover their a*ses. I was basically a commited AK-47 guy. Having used the M16 when I was in the military, I would have rather have had the old M14. Now because of this I now own a Sig M400 and a Bushmaster. I also was inspired to buy my new H&K 416, but that one was a surprise. I love this rifle and having just spent $56 for an extra magazine didn't make me happy, but it shoots fantastic. The .22LR makes sense to me. I would think that it would go faster than all the others. Who among us can afford to shoot @ $1 a bullet.
  10. Being that they are made by Walther as well, do they work for our H&K 416?
  11. There are numerous ones listed. I am only interested in the model that uses a high capacity "pebble" magazine.
  12. I've had a 10/22 in some way for most of my shooting life, but that is the best looking transformation I've ever seen. Absolutely Beautiful!
  13. Denver Colorado eh? My wife and here entire family live in Colorado. Parents in Lakewood and her brother works for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. Family members live in Aurora and everyone loves going to the movies, so of course we called immediately when the madness happened. my brother in law says it was too bad that there wasn't a CPL in the theatre. I used to work in the state anfd that's how I found my bride. The mountains are great, but I do love to live on the water. Maybe someday a nice little house in Breckenridge. When I first laid eyes on the the catagory of AR look a likes in 22, I thought it was just an overpriced marketing idea. "No way could they be as good as a Ruger 10/22". I ignored them. Shortly after I bought my Sig, the saleman at the store called telling me that they got one in stock. I almost dismissed it until I actually held it in my hand. I've owned numerous Walther products over the years and have great respect for the brand and that's what closed the deal. My wife thought I was nuts to pay $600 for a 22, but she's the best. Never gives me a hard time over things like this (she has her own hobbies. Have you ever heard of Pandora bracelets? I could use some advice on sights though. I bought a truglow red dot, but it's not doing the job. I'm doing great with the iron peep sights, and I have to admit, it's much more accurate than any of my Rugers. As far as the possible upcoming ban, I think mags are going down. They might allow us to keep our rifles, but 10 round limited magazines are my best guess. I may just have to buck up and pay the high dollar to HK for theirs.
  14. jnsamson, They were one of the first places I looked, but unfortunately they are sold out. But thanks for your help, it's appreciated.
  15. I can see we both have the same opinion of our new beauties. You mentioned $40 for magazines, please tell me where I can find them. Today I received my new 20 rd mag from HK, but mine was $56 including shipping. You know the funnny thing about this fine firearm? If I'm just in the mood to hold an AR, I pick up the 416 even over my moe Sig M400. There is something about the attention to detail. Interesting note on the magazine, the one that came with the rifle had the Walther banner on the base, while the new one simply has "made in germany".
  16. My new HK 416 is a wonderful weapon, fun to shoot and accurate. The only problem is the availability of magazines. I purchased a 20 rd. from HK at the cost of $49.95 + shipping. EXCESSIVE! Does anyone know of a place to purchase this Walther made magazine for a reeasonable price?
  17. You would think that H&K would want to support the owner's of this 22 version. Difficult to understand that they would take advantage of the situation. If you want one, there is no shortage @ $50 a piece. I've owned several H&K's over the years and once had a problem with my P9S .45 cal, and I found there service to be less than exceptable.
  18. For so long, the Ruger 10/22 has been my main go to 22. I stumbled upon this extremely detailed replica of a tricked out AR-15. I ask the salesman to let me have a look and touch. I have to admit, the price was a bit of a surprise. I went for broke (no pun intended) and bought it. After a few days of playing with my new toy, I took it out for a run. With my mag loaded with my favorite round, the CCI Stinger, I went to funland. I got to tell you, I was simply amazed at the accuracy of this rifle. Now looking back at the hesitation I had over the price, I am darn glad I bought it. Smooth as silk, fast firing and fantastic groups with iron sights, my 10/22 is weeping in the corner. Only temporary, I’ve owned a half dozen 10/22’s over the years. The one I have is one of the first. A beautiful walnut pre-warning, but well-worn friend. Back to the 416, I find the only problem is finding extra magazines. After going to a dozen different websites and seeing the phrase “out of stockâ€, I went to the HK site and paid the ridiculous price of $50 for an extra 20 round magazine. After looking over some of the posts on this forum, it appears they doubled the price overnight. Bottom line…. I love the gun and have already placed orders for a few Magpul extras. Cheaper than shooting a .223 as long as you can find .22LR these days.
  19. I meant to type correctly "I've learned quite a bit"
  20. Thanks to all for such a warm welcome. It's been fun going over all the posts. I've quite at bit.
  21. Hello Everyone! I'm from the very tip of the thumb in Michigan. An old retired USN fart living on the Saginaw Bay and a shooting Enthusiast since I was far too young to remember. While I have an Arsenal solid receiver AK47 and a Sig m400, I just picked up an HK 416 D in .22LR. My neighbors appreciate the report of 22's (one of the benefits of living in the sticks) much more than the sonic crack of a 7.62 or 5.56. Besides up until recently, .22LR ammo was pretty easy to come by. I can't remember the last time I saw a box of CCI Stingers. Anyway, I never thought I would spend the amount I did for my new toy, but I must admit.......I hooked. While my main .22 has always been the Ruger 10/22, this new HK 416 is a blast to shoot nad accurate as well. While researching the availability of picking up extra magazines (just as difficult as finding a pmag), I came across your forum. Very Happy to be here!
