My heart is British but my mind is pure USA. Not surprising considering half my family live in the US! I will some day be a pesky immigrant to your fantastic country
The CMMG are nice. When they come out with their new revised bolt hold open actuator I'll look but for now my colt is 3.5# pull, magpul CTR stock, urx4 keymod 14" hand guard, grippod bipod, red dot and magpul back ups. Strike systems sling on a one point mount. Next idea is to get a gunsmith to make the hold open/release work with the stock leaver in magwell.
Thanks! For anyone else, I had a quote of $70 USD from Bill Springfield. This is cheap and his work is apprently good, although the triggers still come out at over 4.5lbs (some reports of 5.5lbs) I decided to do my own. According to my own rudimentary gauge, I'm at around 4 lbs. But beware, lightening this trigger does nothing to improve the general feel. I wish someone would make a replacement pack.
So has anyone managed to order the new spare part for the safety to convert the older 180 degree safety to the newer 90 degree? I'm aware the safety markings will not line up - but so what. Also, is it just my colt where the magazines are tight and do not drop free? Any advice on how to loosen this up? Without the rear pin they drop free fine. Greetings from the UK.
I tried the trigger job as a newbie to the colt m4 (but not to guns in general) and it went swimmingly. There is also a HK416 video which obviously is along the same lines. I polished, reduced angles and now it's 3.5lbs apparently according to the gauge. BEWARE - polishing a trigger does not a good trigger make! this trigger will still be mostly awful compared to target rifles, but this reduces the pull and creep. beware of making it full auto. there is a fine line.
I have a 'URX 14" keymod rail' from ebay which was A. Cheap and B. Fits the colt. It comes just halfway up the flash hider, but I run it with a 30mm diameter suppressor which fits inside the rail making it look internally supressed. I realise a suppressor may be a high cost in the USA but you could use a 30mm diameter faux suppressor like the spartan. Hope this helps. (check my posts for images of my rail)
I use a Leupould 3.5-10x40mm scope on mine, with 'high' 30mm tube weaver mounts from 'Hawke'. It doesnt touch my rail or print the front sight post. Although now I have gotten rid of the front sight when I installed a rail that is as long as the barrel.
Thanks guys! She is a tack driver. The supressor dampens barrel vibrations and from a rest she is extremely accurate out to 150 yards so far. It needs a trigger or trigger job desperately though!
My baby. SAK suppressor, URX4 14.5" KeyMod Rail, Magpul CTR stock, red dot and magpul sling plate. In the UK. [img width=800 height=450]http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l194/shanekiely/20141223_135402_zps9f26aa77.jpg
