  1. Have you ever seen a .444 Marlin or 45-70 cartridge in person? They are friggin substantial. They wallop you good in a lever action rifle...
  2. We had great weather. I pretty much spent 3 days sneezing, sniffling with an allergy induced headache. Gotta love golden rod and rag weed. >:(
  3. Holy cow check out these chamberings. I suspect that "Biggest Finest Revolver" is not what the "BFR" acronym really means I think it is "Big F*cking Revolver"
  4. Im real curious as to how it performs
  5. cool thanks for the tip

I bought 140' of sump pump hose to pump out the parking lot from the 6" of rain we were expecting.... Around here Im in what the weather guys refer to the 95 corridor. In this corridor we get weather different from the rest of the state because of the proximity to Long Island Sound. In winter if theres a rain/snow line ill almost always on the rain side. If there is monsoon summer showers Ill get those as well.... >:(
  8. Click the yellow text in the first post, that is the links to where I got them...at amazon.
  9. The best part is that aside from its intended use its a nice comfy shirt :thumb:
  10. A guy who worked for me by day helped out his family by night at their pawn shop. The owner of the shop equipped all the employees with Walther PPK's (not PPK/S) and holsters. I must say it made me laugh the first time I saw them all sporting their artillery on their hips.
  11. In addition to the T-Shirt mentioned in the other thread I picked up a 5.11 Tactical - Tactical Covert Casual Shirt. This shirt is nicely made and soft. It also has two internal pockets for valuables and handguns. It has fake buttons and snaps to access the pockets as well as at the bottom for accessing belt holstered weapons. Just to show the size of the pockets, in the images below I placed my Beretta 92 in one pocket and my Para Ordnance P12 in the other. You can see they weigh the shirt down but dont print a weapons outline. The S&W 642 was invisible and didnt pull the shirt at all. You do need to balance the pockets for mental comfort.
  12. BTW its obviously meant to be worn under another shirt
  13. I picked up one of these t-shirts. It has a pouch on both sides for storing valuables and a concealed handgun. In my picture below I have a wallet in one side and my Smith&Wesson 642 in the other. You can see the outline.
  14. You hit the nail on the head. My first carry gun was a S&W 4006 and it was one heavy turd. I struggled to wear it comfortably. I spent more on holsters than the gun cost. Many were custom because I'm a lefty and the gun was a brand new design and caliber. Then one day I stumbled across an article about this guy making holsters out of horsehide and they looked promising. So after many calls (no internet at the time) eventually he made one to fit the 4006. I bought one. Now the holster alone isnt the entire answer. The belt must be suitable. The belt is not really obvious until you use a good one. In my case the holster maker also made me a belt from two layers of horsehide. This was and is the stiffest and most durable belt I had ever seen ( I still use it btw). Anyhow that holster with that belt made all the difference in being able to carry the gun comfortably. I ended up ditching that gun cuz a turd is still a turd and bought the Para P12 that served me well for over a decade. Also with the P12 I once again purchased a holster from that manufacturer as I have with the other guns I have carried for various needs. My need for a smaller double action weapon is driven by a few factors. The first being how I dress when its stinking hot out. I tend to dress with athletic shorts and a T-shirt. That makes it pretty hard to conceal most mid to large handguns. The second reason is I want my woman to be able to handle a weapon that she is comfortable with. The cocked and locked 1911 intimidates her. To that end the third thing is my own abilities. I do not get to practice like I used too so the C&L 1911 has become a less than ideal choice for me personally. For about a year I have been carrying a S&W 642 .38 with 5 rounds of +P Corbon's. The gun conceals well and is only about a pound. The morning as I evaluate my current situation the conclusion that Im coming up with is that these small double action .45's arent really bringing anything to the table other than one more round at nearly twice the weight. This may sound silly but for 1/3 the cost of the Sig or Para I could carry a second 642 for a total of 10 rounds and be at the same weight as the semi autos Im considering. The revolver has simplicity on its side as well. So today Im thinking I will get a speed loader for the 642 and carry my Beretta when my attire permits. This frees up my cash to get a 1911 or a full sized Sig P220 or something else equally as cool. Side note: I will be doing a little web page on some concealed carry clothing for another site of mine. Ill share a link here as you guys might find it interesting. Finally the holsters I was referring too are from Kramer Handgun Leather. Here is the holsters I use

All week they had everyone here nervous for the hurricane that never arrived. By lunch Friday they said Early was going to miss us with the actual hurricane but we would still get wing and a lot of rain. 6PM new the rain wand wind will be coming shortly and will be mixing with a storm from the west to bring local flooding. Well not a drop nor a breeze ever hit us....., Im not complaining though.

  23. Cabelas sent me a$30 off an order $150 and over. I see that as a great coupon. The little woman see this as me spending $150
  24. The nice thing of this approach is you only need an upper to convert to a centerfire AR-15. You can buy them or make your own. I build'em one piece at a time, its easy on the budget and the little woman :)
