175 firefighters and countless rigs out there last night, I think they controlled it pretty well. They were going to airdrop some water late, but it got dark and they scrapped the mission.
Unfortunately it's raining ASH. There is a pair of wildfires to our south, moving north through George Bush Park, which is a huge parcel of land. I am not pleased seeing this ash rain down though. We're keeping an eye out for embers. :o
Here in Texas the recipients get a "Lone Star Card". Basically it is a debit card and the limits on what they can be used to purchase are very liberal at best. As you would expect from any welfare program like this, it is rife with abuse and misuse. When Katrina hit LA and we had an influx of recipients, these cards were doled out like candy. They were being used in high-dollar stores in the Galleria Mall, etc. The welfare programs are incredibly well-funded and have incredibly limited oversight.
Hey Tal, I just talked to my friend who is a member at PSC. He says they've reached a high member count and are holding off on new members for now, not sure how long this will stay in effect. He joined in 1992 and was around the 2,000th member.
My FNP-45 does not drop the slide when I insert a fresh mag, even when I slam it home good and solid. Mine is not the tactical, however. Maybe the slide stop is different.
I took this out today and did a side-by-side with my FNP-9. They're both awesome. I would say the XD feels better (ergonomically) in the hand, but I was able to group slightly better at 7 yards with the FN. Either way, the XD is a keeper. :thumb:
Bummer! Our private range has no limits on membership, and they pay for us to go through the NRA RSO class if we want (I did right away). Last newletter said we were up to 1388 members. We have 2 ranges, one is close to me over here West. The other is south, not as close to you as PSC, but maybe close enough to be worth joining. http://www.bayourifles.org
