The Vet made a statement today, saying the press blow it out of proportion (imagine that) and it was only a few hecklers. Which makes him a bigger man than both the hecklers and the media!!! :thumb: I say round up the hecklers and send them to Ft Bragg for a weekend of orientation. bawahaha!

CMP has Garands I know any are not new but the have up through "Correct Grade" rifles. http://www.thecmp.org/m1garand.htm "CORRECT GRADE: (Very Good to Excellent) Correct Grade Rifles are similar to the Service Grade (above), but will show less wear and use. Correct Grade rifles will have all correct parts for the date of manufacture with 80% or better overall original metal finish. The stock and handguards will be of walnut and correct for the rifle but will have some dings, dents, scratches and marring of the wood finish. Stocks will have the appropriate original inspector's cartouche. The rifle bore will be very good with no significant defects and with a throat erosion of less than 4 and a muzzle wear of 2 or less. Very good to excellent condition. Limited quantities are occasionally available. Prices start at $1100 depending on manufacturer. Plus they sell part to bring one up to a better condition.

PS I hate pampered children who protest the military without a clue as to what the do and endure.

SF Airport must have full time protester. One made the mistake of stepping in front of me in 1982 as I was returning from a year in Korea. At the time we weren't actively engage anyone in the world. Anyway this scrawning, pimple face steps in front of me (I'm in Air Force Class "A" dress uniform) and spouts "You're a killer!" I replied "Yelp but I haven't seen my wife and kids in a year and if you don't move you'll be my next victim." I'd left my base in Korea over 24 hours before, had a severe cold and was short on time to make a connecting flight, so I was in a foul mood to say the least. So either the look on my face made him realize I was seroius or is was just a coward but he moved real quick.

History is one of my favorite past-times specially military history.

The rounds stop being ejected first then eventually won't feed. Over cleaning shortens barel life.

Even makers who still use wood are using less expensive types. I don't know enough to figure out if it would up the chances of of warpping. I do like some of the laminates I've been seeing also.

We have owls here know for snagging small pets, Great Horned Owls I think.

I think these plain jane semi-automatic .22 rifles are having trouble selling now, because of all the tacticool ones out there, even though many of the plain janes or fudd guns are excellent shooters, the younger crowd who until recent years were the target consumers of .22s, now want bling

The Buckmark Camper is my finickiest gun, least bit of dirt and it starts having FTFs and FTEs. Of course it is the hardest of mine to clean, specially if you need to remove the firing pin, it takes 3 hands with fingers half the size of mine to get it back in place.

There were 2 or 3 using Brownings at the match, plus I saw several of the Ruger Mark III series and one 1911 with an STI conversion kit. We have one guy who shoots a Buckmark Rifle, which I've always thought of as a great Buck Rogers gun. >:D

We had our monthly match today and I believe the most people we've had up till now 14 or 15. We shot 3 stages with 5 strings in 2 of them and 4 in the other, we did all stages twice once with rifles and once with pistols. This was the first time we added pistol into the mix, and I need to practice pistol more at distances of 15 to 25 yards. I'm getting better at the strings where we have to shoot while moving. Even the weather cooperated, the winds held off till the very end. So if any of you are in Albuquerque on the 3rd Saturday of the month, come join us.

Any of the wrap around grips fit your requirement? Both mine are smooth front, rear stripping.
