CMMG Sierra Project Complete
Hoss replied to imschur's topic in AR-15 Dedicated .22lr Complete Firearms
Pretty sleek. What's that thing to the rear of the dust cover? Brass deflector? -
I had no idea it had been around that long. What happened was that I was looking around for something for the better half to shoot that would be practical, you know, low recoil, noise, etc, but still useful. I'd seen the Hi Point carbine in the past, and thought it was one ugly sucker, and cheap looking, as opposed to inexpensive, to boot. Well, at some point they put a new stock on it, and they're calling the TS carbine now. It looked pretty good, so I picked one up. Well, that thing is great. Accurate, reliable and just a blast to shoot. So I looked at what Kel Tec had and came across the SU 22, saw a vid on youtube (where it performed just dandy), and figured it had to be a new model.

Keltec's new .22; saw a review on utube and it looked pretty good: SU-22 The SU-22 rifle is chambered for the popular and economical .22 Long Rifle cartridge (.22LR). It is based on the 5.56mm NATO chambered SU-16 rifle and shares many parts including the grip and front and rear sights. The SU-22 is not a simple conversion kit, it is a standalone firearm chambered for the .22LR and is designed for target shooting, plinking, or small game hunting. The PLR-22 and SU-22 operate by blowback action and have a 4140 steel bolt that rides on steel guide rails inside the polymer receiver. The ejector is attached to one of the guide rails and the recoil spring is located above the barrel. The cross-bolt safety and magazine release operate identically to the PLR-16 and SU-16. The rear sight is adjustable for windage and the front sight is adjustable for elevation. An integrated picatinny rail on top will accept a multitude of sighting options. The muzzle end of the barrel is threaded ½"-28 to accept standard attachments such as a muzzle brake. A 26 round semi-transparent magazine is included and it will accept magazines designed for the Atchison M-16 conversion. I can second the Spikes recommendation as I've been pretty happy with mine. With the right ammo (CCI blazer bulk, in my case), it's been darn reliable and accurate. -
Did you go looking for the guy with a bite mark in his arm?

Lol, couple of cool vids, especially the jeep. That one reminds me of my service days. We used to take the jeeps four wheeling while we were suppposed to be stringing commo wire.

The Federal Match looks EXACTLY like the Federal/Champion high velocity and the Blazer bulk stuff. And those are both 40 grains too. The Blazer is what my conversion is most accurate and reliable with. ( I'd post a pic here, but can't seem to be able to for some reason.)

What incident? The discovery channel guy? I don't know how you guys do it carrying all that weight around. I tried 35 oz, plus 2 mags, for a while, and it's a huge pain, literally.

Second Place Todd Heisler The Rocky Mountain News The night before the burial of her husband's body, Katherine Cathey refused to leave the casket, asking to sleep next to his body for the last time. The Marines made a bed for her, tucking in the sheets below the flag. Before she fell asleep, she opened her laptop computer and played songs that reminded her of 'Cat,' and one of the Marines asked if she wanted them to continue standing watch as she slept. 'I think it would be kind of nice if you kept doing it,' she said. 'I think that's what he would have wanted' http://www.poyi.org/63/11/02.php

Apparently my better half is completely different from your guys'. It would kill her not to save X amount of bucks, even if she had to spend 5X to do it. If I tell her, say, I saw Gun Y at 40% off, she'll tell me to get it now before someone else does. I actually have to restrain her.

Yeah, I used to lust after stuff like this myself back in the day. You ever wonder what your modern day eco-warrior gives their kids to play with? Uni-sex dolls or something? There must be a lot of bummin' kids out there.
-
Ja, good. Maybe I should print some of those up as flyers and put them on the cars of those I see with Obama bumper stickers on them? I always walk by those stickered cars wondering what the drivers are like, and what they look like.
-
Lol, good one. Got me to thinking, Disgusting as that is, what would it take for me to reach in there?

Zap those bugs :) The quote is from "Sixteen Tons", a classic country western song. There are many versions. I prefer the version by Jimmy Dean, yeah, the sausage guy. Here's the original writer of the song:

Two fity ain't that big these days. I'm a skinny, little runt and I'm 225.

Yeah, looks good and I imagine it works well too. I've had one on my wishlist at Midway forever ,but it's always one of the things I trim away when I order 'though. Have to do that, I've got more wants than wallet.

Then these must be your lines, Madhouse: If you see me comin', better step aside A lot of men didn't, a lot of men died One fist of iron, the other of steel If the right one don't get you, then the left one will

Anybody carry anything unusual? The two items that might be unusual are a whistle and ear plugs. I carry the ear plugs for loud obnoxious noise I can't avoid, stuff like traffic music or liberal conversation at the next table. The whistle I carry for emergencies, but they get their most use for wandering dogs and dog altercations.
-
Ja, I started doubling up on ear protection when I worked with loud machinery, and I still do it to this day - plugs and muffs. My EDC also includes foam ear plugs, I carry them everywhere I go, just in case.

I'm a no-good layabout from up north. If you're wondering whether my avatar is really me, then I can tell you that it is and it isn't. It's me crossed with, a baboon and another person. Via http://www.faceresearch.org/.

So is everybody still happy with the P22? I will be picking up a .22 handgun here shortly. Not sure which one, just that it won't be the SW because it feels cheap to me. The Rugers are better but don't really crumble my cookie.
-
I wonder if that 3x expanding caulk foam would work? I don't think I'll try it, but I just know somebody out there in internet land has. You know, I had to go to the Doc one time. Thought I was going deaf in one ear. Turns out the earplug had pushed and compacted a wad of wax so tightly in my ear that I could barely hear anymore. I remember the nurse berating me while she was holding a water hose to my ear.
