My Dad just picked up a new 10-22 and I bought him a ATI strikeforce stock for it. He also likes the looks of the EoTech 552 but almost dropped dead at the price. I found this knockoff. I kinda figured it cant be any worse than the rest of the low cost red dots and reflex style sights, most are around $50 to $60 and all made in China anyway. Wish us luck :thumb:

Well you ain't lyin asmurff those are some sweet looking pieces. The MSRP on his top of the line autoloader trap gun is 739.00 I will check for a local dealer to see what kind of real out the door price I can get.

I am looking for more TRAP type 28" or 30" barrel bead sights, and several chokes. Remington 887 is nice as is the 11-87 just a bit more than I wish to spend on it at this point. The Black Shotgun is certainly my style, and considering we are shooting out in a field off our trucks its going to get a scratch or two. I have found some nice ones on-line, I am going to talk to my FFL guy about one being shipped.

The link works on occasion. I can have this gun for just under $400.00 it has 4 choke tubes as well. I have found a lot of info on them since I posted this. Sound like a very reliable piece. No frills. It also sounds like they were about $100.00 less when they were Baikal and not sold by Remington :bang: I'm in no hurry I will keep looking, I know the $13,000.00 Perazzi o/u, my buddy bought is out of the question.

Has anyone heard of these? I was in a shop looking for a economical autoloader. Mostly for clays. I am not going to be spending the big bucks on this. It is a gas operated auto. 4+1 capacity. Russian made and sold by Remington $450.00 takes it. http://www.remington.com/products/archived/shotguns/autoloading/spr453.aspx

Merry Christmas TAC-22'ers. I will be spending the day with my family visiting my parents. Tradition dictates a shootout, its a Holiday thing for us. :thumb:

I ordered TWO extra mags from S&W website a week ago Friday. I got a damn postcard in the mail telling me they have been backordered for 4 to 6 weeks. :bang:

Well after a couple hundred rounds it certainly did not adversely effect the accuracy. I did spend a little time dialing in my new 4X scope but now that that is done she is hitting beer caps from 150ft. Using my new bi-pod of course. I need to make another and tighten it up on the barrel, I went a bit too far when boring it and had to use a thin .002 piece of shim stock to secure it. Once the new one is done I am going to go shoot and track the accuracy and take notes on noise and stability with and without it on. I really don't see an issue it looks cool and didn't screw with the accuracy. I do however want one with no shims to make me feel better about it.

I ordered two extras for my M&P 15-22 last week, I got a post card from Smith & Wesson yesterday. They are on backorder for 4 to 6 weeks ... bummer. They were happy to take my money in advance though :-[

Hanging with my family at home this year. Deep frying a turkey. Saturday will be Thanksgiving at the in-laws, that's shooting day. We traditionally have a shootout for Thanksgiving. Then we feast. None of that side of the family has seen my new S&W 15-22. I better grab several boxes of ammo from my stash. It will be popular :thumb: HAPPY THANKSGIVING...

Once I get it refined and tested. I may see if I can get a few made by a CNC shop that makes parts for us at work. One at a time is a bit time consuming. I will check out some of the others out there may see some ideas.

The ferrule would require having one of the correct .668 diameter. I like the heat to swell it up and when it cools it would be there for sure. Kind of like putting c-clip eliminators in a 12 bolt Chevy rear end. It would make it more difficult to remove or swap out. I am thinking that if the fit is a snug slip the set screw should be OK afterall it is just a 22. I think it should function somewhat though. It would look better black but for R&D purposes its good enough. I went with a .290 center bore thinking that I would like lots of clearance for a 22 round coming through. What kind of clearance do they generally have in the bore ?

I decided to try this after the comment was made about a clamp on unit. Before I remove the barrel to thread it I wanted to try something different. So I made this unit that slips on the end of the barrel and a set screw on the underside holds it in place. I positioned the set screw in a fashion that will be somewhat unnoticed and if I do decide to thread the barrel the scratch from the screw will be turned off anyway. I do need to make a second unit and tighten it up on the barrel around .004 I want it to be somewhat snug. I will be shooting it this weekend and will report back on how it went.

Mmmm I like it. The hand guard is cool. One gun at a time for me.
-
I like this idea. Considering that it is just a 22 it wont be to violent. I may actually try this route first. It will keep me from removing the barrel.

Im on it ! Tap and die on the way :thumb:

Made a few more additions (changes) . I swapped out the 3-9 scope for a comact 4X32. Leapers scope. and added some rail covers, nice and smooth. I also took the light off my 9mm pistol and stuck it on there too, just for the cool factor. Next is thread the barrel for a flash hider.

Wow I would think that the folks running an indoor range would be up on the weapons and would already know about the MP as well as the others that are a dedicated 22
-
Great now I gotta buy a 10-22 after all.
-
Oh yeah ... I happen to be a metal fabricator. I will be doing it in a lathe for sure. We have a holder for dies also. Has anyone here got any advice as far as removing the barrel from the weapon. I can figure it out but any pointers would be appreciated. I will snap some pics of the whole mess while I ruin a good barrel. :o

I had the guy who we buy our tooling from at my work hook me up with the 1/2-28 tap & die. I am going to make my own flash hider / muzzle brake. It is afterall just for looks so I can experiment a little. :thumb:

Well I got off my lazy A#* and looked now my question is what do I need to know before unthreading the barrel ? Does the barrel bottom out when reinstalled ? What about locking compound ?
