  1. Hey fellow members....if you'd like to....I'd like to see you post here if your currently serving, you are a Vet or a Police officer, Fireman or EMS current or former. Post your service and dates. I'll start: USMC: 95-03, Air gaurd: 06-to present, Police: 00-to present Oh, and thanks for your service, my family and I appreciate it!
  2. Thats a good thought Killbreaux. I may try that myself and see where it goes. Never hurts to try. You know another thought along the same lines is the form wrap thats camo and can be wrapped around your rifle for camoing. I wonder if they make it in black though. Hmmmm....research in progress 8)
  3. I ordered the "budget" buffers from rrages this weekend and I am waiting on their arrival. Does anyone have anything to say about these? Weaknesses or strenths? I figured since I dont fire extended strings of fire these should suffice. They will be going into my Gen2 GSG. Thanks.
  4. asmurf, When you guys get the format that your going to use down, would you mind sharing the courses of fire? Thanks.
  5. Man that stinks your shoot got cancelled. Learning clays is fun, but I still believe the shotgun in my unit is for suppresive fire until I can get to my patrol rifle, if neccessary. Hopefully you guys can get your shoot back together....good luck and if it gets a green light let us know how it goes.
  6. I wasnt sure where to put this as it concerns both the GSG5SD and the Colt/Umarex M16A3 version. I am getting ready to buy one of the two aformentioned shooters and I have been reading in both rooms about each. They both seem to be fun and they both have my attention. I have 6 ARs all in 5.56MM and this is the biggest hold back of a Colt/Umarex M16A3 version purchase. I kinda look at it as Just another AR in a different variation. The GSG5SD is appealing since it is not "just another" AR. I thought about buying the GSG and eventually paying another tax stamp fee and SBRing it to the actual length of the real MP5SD. I dont know....I am back and forth. I wouldnt mind getting the Colt and fitting it with an RIS and a ACOG clone, but I want the version that has the true M16 front sight post and not the flip up type. I dont really want anything else added other than maybe a good vertical front grip and a rail mounted light. Then I sway back to the whole "man....its another version of what, I already have so many of". I know that you cant have too many good rifles....I look at them as true stock that doesnt have such a wavering market, they are good investments that can become family pieces and passed along to future family. I geuss I'll keep looking and listening and eventually I'll make a choice of which I think niether will be a bad choice. Any opinions of the two guns would be appreciated. Thanks!! :thumb:
  7. I have a Streamlight M3 with a xenon bulb and I've used it for duty for the last 7 or 8 years. It has gotten dull and I wanted a brighter light. I was looking for an LED upgrade bulb for the M3 when I ran across a different light for only $40 bucks. It is called a NEBO 5569 PROTEC. It boasts about being 190 lumens and it has a strobe function as well (been wanting a strobing light for a while). Its gotta be better than my old dull M3, we"ll see< even if its not suitable for duty and I stick with my good ole M3, I'll throw it on to something else. I'm a flashlight freak and my wife agrees. Been that way after getting seriously taxed in a low light close quaters crisis resolution course :o you cant have enough lights around....batteries fail....halls are tighter in dark....and there are alot of things that go bump in the dark that are worse than the boogie man C:-) I'll post up a review when it gets here.
  8. What your doing for them boys ROCKS....planting the seeds of discipline and responsibility. Mentoring them with such a skill as shooting is how we can keep our heritage alive. I am doing it with my oldest son who is 7, as my dad did for me. I believe it makes a HUGE difference. I also watched my dad (who is a retired cop in which I followed in proffession) take kids without dads, hunting. He and several of his co-workers did this. Anyhow keep up the passing of the torch and I hope all goes well for you healthwise. Take care.
  9. Sons 4 wheelers loaded - he made the A honor roll so I'm lettin him skip a day tommorow - SHHH!! Gears loaded and I got my M&P 15-22, my CMMG converted AR, my 10.5" BBL AR and my boys Remington Chipmunk, and LOTS OF AMMO!!!! We are headed about an hour south where we run our cattle. Gonna pen em and work em, Hang out and shoot a few rounds....just gonna chill. Have a good weekend ya'll and we'll talk to ya later.
  10. Seriously, the volume of these type of calls is really greater than anyone could imagine or would even think possible. As unfortunate as that sounds. But I will say there are some good calls that offset the bad ones.
  11. Yeah, got a call to a residence one night where a guy had been beaten pretty badly. Thought he wanted to file an assault....wrong, he wanted to report his dope had been stolen. ??? ??? ??? ???
  12. Hey popcop45 I hear ya man!! I been thinking of taking a few airsoft MP5 mags and cutting them apart and some how affixing the sides over the GSG mag sides. I dont think this will interfere with function as the follower button is recessed. Dont know how yet, but definetly thinking about it. I know I have to ensure the mags are functioning good prior to affixing the sides and then maybe gluing them or something of the sort. Maybe I'm spitballing in the wrong direction. May just wait and see what you come up with. Hopefully you wont run into many snags....good luck and keep us posted. :thumb:
  13. I wanted to get some opinions or thoughts. I have been a tactical instructor for a little while and I have been using the higher end airsoft for training for a while now with great results. At the end of each course we have course and instructor critiques and we have had good feedback about the use of airsoft. I know there is Simunitions but the cost of each trigger pull can be great to some smaller agencies. There is also the down fall of VERY tight training budgets. The integration of the real time interactivity of shooting and being shot at puts a total different spin on things for students. There are some drawbacks when it comes to airsoft but they are few and far between, and I always address the fact that the focus is on movement and movement with weapons. I also stress repeatedly that a good day at the range practicing weapons malfunction drills is imperative. All in all the good that I can give to students is the meat and potatoes of shooting, moving and communicating. Any thoughts ot suggestions, or is there anyone else using airsoft? Another quick point is building use, I can ask a building owner or a local school to use a building and all I need is a good sweep down of the building afterwards. There is no damage or walls "painted" up. Again I have had positive outcomes and I am just fishing to see if there is anything I could use - thoughts please and Thanks
  14. Is your Eotech the real deal or a fakEotech? I have a fakEotech on my RRA AR15 which I have my CMMG conversion in and it seems to be holding up good so far. Oh and your gun looks GOOD!!
  15. That looks good!! I am really starting to get the SD itch. May have to put a day or two of OT in and splurge!!
  16. I havent read the listed page but when I first started researching a drop in kit I stumbled on several disgruntled folks in reference to Ciener. It seemed most that were unhappy had ordered them directly from them. I got a CMMG and have been relatively happy with it. Even bought a second mag for it the other day.
  17. Thanks for all the kind words!! I got my Tango Down battle grip in and I modified it for fit. This required a minor mod, which was....if you remove the original grip, being mindful of the springs, when you have it off look at the top of it and there is a deep hole for the first spring and then another shallow hole for the second. The TD grip didnt have the spot for the second spring and a quick lick of a fine point dremmel stone fixed it. Viola!! It looks great. I dropped my Blackberry and cant post pics right now, but when my replacement phone arrives I will. The MDT stand in the patrol car wasnt a very good place for my Blackberry to land, especially with a direct screen impact....it truely is a "crack"berry now :-[
  18. I should have also indicated that there are a few compatible light models listed. If you have a handheld that is listed with a xenon bulb, this upgrade is worth the $20. If I can find another one in stock somewhere else I will post it, and I have another Surefire G2 on my duty belt I am looking at upgrading.
  19. I have an Integrated light handgaurd (Classic Army) on my GSG5 and the xenon bulb was rather dull. I looked at Airsplat and found a replacement bulb that is LED. This thing ROCKS, it is very intense and I am very satisfied. I went to check the link and Airsplat is apparently out of them. So the direct link is a no go, but the general link to the lights works. If you check it, scroll about half to three quarters way down and the bulb I got is the J-Rich $19.99 bulb. If you can find it else where and you want a brighter light then I recommend it. http://www.airsplat.com/Categories/AC-LASER-LIGHT.htm
  20. Thanks!! Hope to shoot it for the first time in about two weeks. Works taking me outta town so I cant play until I get back.
  21. Forgot about the MFI fake can.
  22. I kinda wanted to go with the H&K 416ish look and what is illustarted bellow is: S&W M&P 15-22 UAG red dot Airsoft HK416 iron sights Tapco short vertical grip Surefire G2 light Unbranded SOPMOD replacement stock And I am waiting on a Tango Down Battle grip (pistol grip replacement - and what HK puts on their 416s, or the ones I've seen)
  23. Dont know when, but when I get to the range I'll post on it's performance.
  24. Okay, took these with my blackberry and pulled them off to post from it.
  25. Today at Academy I found a small version of a red dot by BSA. About 40.00 bucks if I remember (too lazy to go look at the receipt right now) It "kinda" looks like an AP microdot...."kinda". I think it looks a little better on top of the GSG versus the full size clonepoint I had on it. And by doing this I could put my clonepoint on to my AK, which looks good IMHO.
