Microgunner Was the Chiappa 1911 really a POS? I read through the other thread and caught on that you didnt care for it. I was looking at working a lil OT and buying one. I wanted to buy an after market clamp on rail for a light attachment and add a set of Hogue wrap around finger grooved rubber grips. I was kinda goin for the LAPD Kimber look. I dont want to waste money and time but I also have to wonder why they all seem to be about 100 bucks cheaper than the GSG 1911. Its obviously for plinking and not precision marksmanship, but like I said I dont want to buy a steamin pile of poop.

About 4 months ago my PAYPAL got hit. I had my debit card listed and luckily PAYPAL thought it was out of character as well and held the funds transfers. After a claim was filed with them I got all of my money back. Seems someone hacked my password. They sent me a couple of bills for "services" and then logged in as me and paid themselves. I had to cancel the card and change all my security with PAYPAL. I made them send me a device that generates a specific code for all transactions and a transaction cant be completed by anyone but me, supposedly, since I have the device and its required to complete a transact. I expressed great frustration with PAYPAL and I got a simple "sorry but you must have a virus on your computer". After speaking to a few friends I have heard of 5 other incidents like this with PAYPAL. HMMMMM?? GRRRRRRR!!! Nothing like being a victim huh? I hope everything goes well for you and whoever the perps are, they get what they deserve. Good luck.

My first run with my 15/22 is the H&K 416 knock off look shown here. I am not really satisfied with the look so I am having my barrel threaded so I can put a AR style compensator. I also am putting an A2 style front sight assembly on it. It "should" look like a mid length carbine when I get done. I'll post update photos when I finish it.

I dropped off the upper to Vanden Berg customs in Webster on Saturday. He told me he has done several of these and he doesnt have to remove the barrel. He states he has made a mandrel for them that enables him to thread the barrel without removal. He is charging me $60, and I got an A2 style compensator from Tactical Innovations Inc. on clearance for $5 bucks :grin:

As far as the brands, both Classic Army and G&P are well known for being tough, just keep in mind thiese are made of high impact ABS, mine has held up, but I just plink...meaning if you really started running and gunning and heating the barrel up I dont know how these would hold up. Mine is really durable and I think it would hold up to a typical LEO training day with the intermitent breaks....but just dumping rounds at a high (I'm thinking cyclic here but thats for automatics) rate of fire will probably melt it. Hope this helps.

I found a good deal on a low profile mount for my new GSG. But I still dont know what sight I want. Hopefully it gets here soon.

Prolly running the price up due to the Glock and ISSC argument, and the decision to change them some to please Glock. Ive seen some dealers do this with their inventory of GSG5s. Dont remember where I saw it but one dealer had two GSGs instock and in his description of item he detailed how the lawsuit was making them disappear and he had a 1500.00 price tag on it. :confused: Wouldnt have believed it if I hadnt seen it.

I am going to Aluma-Hyde mine, on the new SD. Looks kinda silly at the end of the shroud with a silver barrel pokin out. Ive had good results with the Aluma-Hyde.

And to top it off my old hunting dog that got out during some really bad weather yesterday, to hide, came home tonight. I was up all night checking for her. I drove the surrounding area 4 different times. I called the dog catcher twice when she didnt come back yesterday. Shes 12 and I thought she mighta just got off somewhere and passed on, cause this is totally not like her. My oldest son and my wife have both been beside themselves. But she came strolling back up this evening and I got a new GSG!! And all have gotten into better spirits!!
