Big stupid purchase (s) of the day
crashoverrideplik replied to crashoverrideplik's topic in Handguns
@ madhouse: I looked at the Range Officer as well. Nice gun. I was just caught up in the beauty of the S&W E model. Man it's a beautiful gun... in stainless :) -
Don't enter that contest..... i need another one for my collection ;D
-
I like using them and watching the neighbors freak out when it goes off. We were working in Louisville, KY on a site recently and used it. I never seen so many guys reach for concealed carry guns when it went off.

Big stupid purchase (s) of the day
crashoverrideplik replied to crashoverrideplik's topic in Handguns
I can't believe how much $$$ 1911's are. The S&W is the most expensive handgun I've purchased. My buddy has a Les Baer 1911. It's like the price of a nice used car. I'm thinning out my motorcycles collection and taking up another collection that takes much less room but is just as dangerous to the wallet. -
Man am I going to be in trouble.... I saw the new S&W 1911 e-series today. If you haven't seen it (link): http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product4_750001_750051_785110_-1_757754_757752_757751_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y Now... if you are into 1911's you'll understand why the purchase. It was pre-ordered for another customer but I got to handle it before it went to it's new home. Mine will be here shortly ;D Sooo... while I was there I bought another 1911; the new Remington 1911 R1. Link: http://www.1911r1.com/Products/Firearms/Model-1911r1.aspx I believe in the rule of 2's. You should have 2 of every caliber weapon that you own. In this case I "needed" a 1911 so I bought 2. If you take these plus the GSG 1911 .22, the Ruger SR-556 6.8, the M&P 15-22 it's been an expensive month. Let's hope that the ISSC MK-22 and the Sig 516 that I have on order don't show up this month or I'll end up on some list. LOL.

I have the .27 caliber in my tool case for work.
-
I shot 3 boxes of it today and had zero FTF or FTE with my M&P 15-22 and my CMMG Quebec A. I think Cabellas is the only re-seller of it (for now). It's $20 for 375 rounds. It's worth finding and trying. Also my groupings dropped to sub 2 inches @ 25 yards with the 15-22. It's been in the 3 inch range using Remington (Targets and Goldens) and a little less (2.5) using the standard CCI .2 LR.

I've been thinking about adding one of those to my carry gun, a Keltec PF9. I have one on my black Walther P-22 that's factory and think they are awesome.
-
that's just for the 10 round model. They are still back ordered on the 25 rounders.
-
I have the Christie's loader. I "think" it's the same thing that Black Dog is selling. Here's a link to where I got mine: http://store.a51tactical.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1988

imschur I like the way you think. I've been buying in 2's lately myself.

I read 3 different reviews of this gun.... then ordered one ;D I was quoted $369 for it from my local shop. I've seen 2 different versions of it. One is all black and the other has wood handles (GI style). I can't wait to shoot it.
-
This is the reason my black one is PIA to put together after cleaning. I'm not fond of the recoil spring either, but the gun(s) shoots so well that I'm willing to put up with it.
-
I own 2 of them (black w/laser and green target). Nice to shoot. Bitch to clean.

Has anyone seen these new rounds from CCi? http://www.cci-ammunition.com/whatsnew/newproducts.aspx

Great.... another set of magazines that I need ;D

I'm waiting for that new Keltec shotgun. Sounds like it's right up my alley. http://www.keltecweapons.com/news/preview-kel-tec-shotgun-ksg

just saw a scar mk 22 at my local dealer
crashoverrideplik replied to caspero's topic in ISSC Austrian Sporting Arms
I ordered one. I'm worried that it's going to be more $ than everyone thinks. -
When I was looking for another .22, I asked about one at the local shop. First impression....Man does it feel cheap and look cheap. I'm not sure if anything except the barrel is metal. A the price point they are selling at every one of them should be flying off the shelf for first time buyers.

You make valid points. I was basing my comments on threats to me. Threats to my wife or child would be a different story.

I've noticed that with the CCI's I've had less failure to fires and better accuracy too. I've tried the Winchesters, Federals and Remingtons in the bulk packs and I have to say the "quality" isn't the same as the CCI's. Many duds and also bent or distorted cartridges in the box. I shot 1K rounds last weekend with the Winchesters and had a failure every 7th round in the M&P 15-22. It was a every other magazine in the CMMG. I wish that the CCI's came in the 550 round boxes (or bigger). Going thru a box for 4 magazines sucks.

My choice would be the .45. My Glock 21 holds 13. If you are looking for stopping power in a close quarters situation the .45 has the most knock down power and damage potential. I shoot 400 rounds of 9mm and .45 each weekend at the range and average about 1-2K out of the AR with the .22 upper. Any of these weapons with the right shot placement would kill. For me I use Hornady rounds in my 9mm and .45 for personal defense. Any shot in the chest area with these rounds are going to leave a critical wound (and gaping hole) at anything less than 10 yards. IMO a shot further than 10 yards means you have left your house and shouldn't be shooting.
-
I like it a lot. I shot 2K rounds last weekend out of the CMMG. It was very comfortable and natural feeling. I really can't believe how all over the place slings are $$$ wise.
-
Your FFL can get them direct from CMMG. My local gun shop carries them. I did a tour of their factory before I bought one. They have a "outlet" store in Columbia Missouri where they do bargin bin specials, etc. The place is called Black Rifle. If you are every in the area it can be damaging to your wallet :)
