Off to a pretty good start :) CTD Archangel 556 kit
jestmaty replied to jestmaty's topic in Ruger 10-22 General
Added a Bushnell for pretty cheap. First scope was a 3X9X40 and it just wasn't cutting it even at 50 yards. Bushnell is a 6X18X50 and I can see each hole as it punctures the target! :) [img width=800 height=600]http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww266/jestmaty/IMG_0861.jpg Still can't shoot worth a crap though....:( Target on the right is the Ruger's, one on the left is my Mosin Nagant M44. I was doing merely ok for the first 75 rounds on the right target. Decided to poke 25 more through it and I started spraying em' all over :o [img width=800 height=600]http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww266/jestmaty/IMG_0865.jpg The little ones on the bottom had 12 fired at each of em'. About 1/2 hit the splatter zone, the other 1/2 missed... I put 40 rounds total through the M44 on the target on the left, 25 at the time the photo was taken . Some good, some bad  -
Nice gun... one of our favorite .22 handguns. That being said.. it's about 2 years old and there were a few issues with it. Once, while my 15 yr old son was shooting it, the slide flew off about 5 feet in front of him. Maybe that was user error as we can't verify that the take down notchy thing in front was secured. During the cease fire, we picked it up, dusted it off and stuck it back on... never had a problem since. I was having a situation when shooting it where the slide wouldn't set the hammer in single action on almost every shot. After each shot, the next round would go into battery, but the hammer wouldn't cock. S&W picked up the shipping both ways and had it fixed within 7 days! Great cust service if you ask me. Lastly, it USED to be ammo picky... only CCI MiniMags. Lately, I've been able to shoot Federal Automatch lead round nose stuff without issues. Fed is almost 1/2 the price per round of CCI's. Mine has the factory laser on it and it makes it look super bad-*ss! Disregard the red goop you see... I've since learned how to clean a weapon properly! :thumb: [img width=800 height=600]http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww266/jestmaty/110_1012.jpg

A couple of my modified Ruger 10/22's
jestmaty replied to Larry in SD's topic in Ruger 10-22 Mods and Upgrades
Man, that first one (Archangel 556) looks fantastic. When I opened the thread, I was looking at it thinking it looks terribly familiar. Love the removal of the rails top and bottom, changes the look drastically, ..... for the better! I actually spent about $30 ADDING 2 rails to the side of mine, so there's one on each corner. I recently slipped my stock 2010 10/22 into an Archangel 556 stock. Threw on a foregrip, bipod, bananna magazine, and NcStar el-cheapo scope. It looks pretty good and it got me thinking/wishing I'd not got the ss barrel that came standard on the all weather carbine. The ss really kinda clashes with the blackness of the rest of the gun After a month or so of my 'new' Ruger/Archangel, I stumbled across the comical flash suppressor/muzzle brake from www.tacticalinc.com. I got the Barrett style 50 cal brake. We all KNOW a muzzle brake is completely unnecessary on our little 22lr's, but it added a certain amount of conversation and laughable 'bling' to the weapon. Sure gets lots of attention at the range :) Your posts above showcase 2 fantastic examples of cutom 10/22's, I know you're proud of em' and give us newbs a great direction to begin our own customizations. Nice job! -
Saw that too somewhere else.... maybe a Bud's email, I can't remember. Pretty good reviews on the net for what the gun is.... primarily a plinker/target gun. Lots of youtubes show the Puma stovepipes and ftf's, even on decent ammo, like CCI minimags.?.? I've bought guns before that had great reviews and required a trip back to the manufacturer. Others were bashed all over the web, only to perform flawlessly for me. I'm seriously looking into the 1911-22 by Puma. Isn't it Chiappa? $200 to my house with about another $25 in FFL makes this a bargain. Just not sure I need ANOTHER 22 to join the 6 I already have ;D

Man... I come back to revisit this thread, and I got a funny feeling in my pants again. Modded Mosin envy? Don't know... but that is one bad-ass looking weapon! Makes me wanna go shoot my M44 soon :thumb:
-
Now THAT'S a tough looking mosin! Well done! Don't tell the guys over at 7.62X54R.net, they'll skin you alive! :)

To those of you who absolutely hate the snow season, get this.... I actually am flying out Christmas day to Denver, taking a rental car to Breckenridge for a 4 day ski trip! Crazy huh? Going TO the snow? We are supposed to get to the mid 40's tonight, coolest night since like Feb or somethin'. I........ ain't...... turning.........on.........the.........heat!!!! After paying obscene money to cool my house since April 1st, 7 months ago, I'm on strike!
-
Yep, that snow must suck big time. Hell, I can finally drive my convertible for the first time in like 5 months! Been too hella hot to drop the top :( Live in Katy, Texas... about 1/2 hour west of downtown Houston Took a pic today, before taking a quick spin..... [img width=800 height=450]http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww266/jestmaty/SAM_0246.jpg And on the back..... [img width=800 height=600]http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww266/jestmaty/IMG_0073.jpg Gotta butch it up somehow!!!!

Pretty cool, flows-with-the-lines of the gun laser... Walther OEM, factory... PS, disregard the red gunk on the slide, I've since learned how to PROPERLY clean the weapon ;D [img width=800 height=600]http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww266/jestmaty/110_1012.jpg

Installed a .50 BMG style muzzle brake/flash hider for fun :thumb: Cost $25 and added a lot of 'bling' to the 10/22 Shot 110 rounds @ 50 yards today and had a blast doing it! [img width=800 height=600]http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww266/jestmaty/IMG_0766.jpg [img width=800 height=600]http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww266/jestmaty/IMG_0763.jpg [img width=800 height=600]http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww266/jestmaty/IMG_0762.jpg -
Look at the lower left corner ;D More guns have been added since the pic, now have 15 handguns. First one to snicker or laugh at the 'pinkness' of my mosquito is gonna get hurt :P [img width=800 height=600]http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww266/jestmaty/110_0973.jpg

In Katy actually :thumb: I have a yearly membership, so I shoot frequently. Really impressed with how well this Archangel/10-22 combo shoots. I'm far from a great shooter, but if I can put over 200 rounds down the pipe like you see above, I'll take it. -

Another great day of shooting! 50 yards... 75 rounds on the dirty bird target. Same distance on the big white and orange target, just about 200 rounds on it :thumb: [img width=800 height=600]http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww266/jestmaty/IMG_0747.jpg -

+1 :) I'm guessing a composite barrel is in my future one day. Makes your weapon look menacing! -

My 10 yr old shooting it at the range the other day.... -
I took my chl class over at I-10 and Beltway 8 on the west side back during spring break of 2010. Mid March... Took a total of 4weeks to get my chl in the mail. Actually it took a few days over 4 weeks, but it was still fast imho. I chose to carry a Ruger LCP .380 year round. It is reliable, reasonably accurate for what it is, and holds 7 shots, and if I can't stop a problem with 7 rounds of .380, I got bigger problems. Although, I gotta admit that I sometimes carry my wife's Charter Arms Pink Lady with 5 hollow point plus P rounds. Remember, no one knows (or is supposed to see your weapon), so God forbid my Pink Lady needs to be drawn, I ain't making any apologies for using a lady gun to protect myself or family. Tell ya what, you'll know you're shooting something relatively powerful when you pop some 38 special +p's through a 12 oz gun. I can't even imagine shooting .357 mags through the 13 oz S&W :o [img width=800 height=600]http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww266/jestmaty/110_1168.jpg

Most manufacturers will pay both ways if the gun is less than a year old. I know Taurus and Walther do this cause I sent back guns that were less than 1 yr old and paid nothing. I'm sitting with a Beretta Neos that had the firing pin recall done a while back, but now I pull the trigger maybe once, twice, three times before it goes bang. Very sporadic and flaky. Actually scary. I have a 3 year warranty on it and it's only about halfway through, but I DO have to pay the roughly $50 to send it overnight to them via UPS. Got too many .22lr automatic pistols to worry about it for the moment. Yes, it sucks to have to pay one way, let alone round trip, but I pick and choose my battles. The Neos will sit for a while.... and get sent in before the warranty runs out in a year and a half or so..

No problem at all! Watched a couple of youtubes showing how to put it together and it was really easy. Hardest part was 'drifting' out the rear sight. I swear it was welded in the dovetail slot :) As others have mentioned, the rear oem sight gets pretty much mangled to shreds during the removal process. I want to get out today to shoot it at the range... the action feels smooth and I expect no problems. Bought the Butler Creek hot lip 10 round as well as a Pro Mag steel lip feed magazine. If one acts up, I'll try the other. Also, I think I can still use my stock magazines if needed. -
Very, very nice ghostwriter! I really looked at that Tapco stock but decided to go Archangel old school. I envisioned mine to look like yours does when the Tapco was on the table.... :) [img width=800 height=600]http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww266/jestmaty/IMG_0724.jpg

Please critique :) Rushed it sorta... just got the kit Tuesday pm, had a minor thingy cut out of the middle of my back yesterday, took a couple of hours today to assemble and bought foregrip, bipod, and Butler Creek hot lips 10 rd magazine. Kit was about $110, grip/pod/hot lips cost $75. For $185 bucks, I love, love, love the new look of the 10-22. Not sure about the NcStar scope. It looked prettty cool on my stainless all weather carbine stock. Will prolly change it to something else at a later date. [img width=800 height=600]http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww266/jestmaty/IMG_0717.jpg My 10 yr old shooter already ran off with the fake knife! I decided early on to throw the bayonet (knife) away as soon as it showed up at my door! My son shoots my .357 magnum as well as my .45 1911, and is pretty proficient at handling firearms, so giving him the fake knife was not as bad as it sounds.... :) Gotta love those .22lr tactical options out there! -
My first post  Ordered my Archangel 556 kit almost 48 hours ago, exactly and.... Fedex knocked on my door as I was on the phone with CTD about my order. CS @ CTD is really good. Fedex was delivering my goods as I was speaking to them on the phone! :) Again, decided on CTD for my Archangel 556 stock and they had it at my door 48 hours later! Whether or not the kit is a good one is open to debate, but I'm stoked to be able to put it together tomorrow after a visit to Academy for a fore-grip, bi pod, and banana magazine to make it complete on the first try! Also, I just had a minor surgery on my back 4 hours ago, so forgive any screwups... maybe the pain killers working on me
