bdavison Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 Guys, For those of you that arent happy with the Sig Sauer's 522 stock due to a loose fit, and wobbling issues. I have found a very easy fix for this that makes it much more solid, and doesnt involve modifying, drilling, or cutting anything on the gun. It wont make it rock solid, but it gets rid of most of the wobble. If you are a person that adjusts the length of your stock a lot, you might want to make two of the pieces so you can replace them as they get worn down. All you need is a old empty plastic CCI Mini-Mag box, and a few simple tools.
bdavison Posted October 29, 2010 Author Report Posted October 29, 2010 Step 1 - Get an old plastic ammo box. I used a spare CCI Mini-Mag box.
bdavison Posted October 29, 2010 Author Report Posted October 29, 2010 Step 2 - Use a razor saw, or dremel tool (with cut off wheel) to cut down one side of the box.
bdavison Posted October 29, 2010 Author Report Posted October 29, 2010 Step 3 - Cut down other side of box.
bdavison Posted October 29, 2010 Author Report Posted October 29, 2010 Step 4 - Snap or cut off the tab from the end of box as shown in pic.
bdavison Posted October 29, 2010 Author Report Posted October 29, 2010 Step 5 - Remove Stock from rifle. Depress the adjustment button, and pull down on the stock retaining pin. Then slide it off the rifle.
bdavison Posted October 29, 2010 Author Report Posted October 29, 2010 Step 6 - Insert your plastic piece into the end of the stock as shown. You kinda want a friction fit.
bdavison Posted October 29, 2010 Author Report Posted October 29, 2010 Step 7- Using a sharpie or grease pencil, mark off both sides of the stock.
bdavison Posted October 29, 2010 Author Report Posted October 29, 2010 Step 8 - Use your razor saw/dremel to cut off the excess plastic. YOU WANT TO CUT IT BIGGER THAN THE MARKED LINES! You can shave it down or trim it off to fine adjust it.
bdavison Posted October 29, 2010 Author Report Posted October 29, 2010 Step 9 - Insert piece back into stock as shown. And slide stock back onto rifle. If the stock fits too tightly, you can trim a little more off the plastic piece. Trim in small increments. Its ok to leave the edges rough, actually it works better that way.Presto....wobbly stock fixed. If you are constantly adjusting the length of your stock, eventually the plastic piece might get worn down a bit...but it should work for quite some time.Enjoy!!!
