Just shooting

Hello everyone.  I stopped by Walmart today to and picked up 500 rounds of Federal 40 gram solid "Lightning" brand shells. A little over $15 with tax.  Decided to try them out, so went out back with my old Marlin 60 and the Remington 597 VTR.  Shot them all up.  One, maybe two, seemed light. I thought they performed extremely well.

Here are a few photos of what it look like in my back 5 acres.  I have the paper targets stapled to a sawhorse type deal I slapped together.  When I ran out of targets, I just stapled up the Federal shell boxes to shoot at. I got two shelter halves that were new surplus and used them to sit and lie down at.  For you Southern Boys, that white stuff is frozen water that tends to fall out of the sky 4 or 5 months of the year.  We Yankees don't let it interfere with shooting.

The Federal Lightning seems to shoot pretty good, much better than the Remington bulk in my experience.

I've seen that freaky looking white stuff on Christmas cards before but I thought it was just an artist's concept of a make believe place.  And we have frozen water down here too, we drop it in our bourbon. Comes from the Frigidaire. ;D

The backyard firing range was the best in my youth. I guess this is the best thing about .22s - you can shoot them in your backyard! I did shoot a 9mm carbine in my backyard, into the same backstop of old tires wood and dirt.

One day I got some 9mm tracers, and I found out the 9mm rounds were bouncing through the backstop - as I watched the tracers sail up in the air! Again, not a problem with .22 lr....

Yes, that white sh*t - sometimes I get tired of it - wish I was a southerner. But then again, I remember I am stronger than a southern because I am tempered by that cold white sh*t. I am bad ass ; )

We get that white stuff here (NM) also, but the law says it must be melted by noon.

You don't shoot tracers here desert flora burns way to easy. Most of the ranges prohibit them and the open areas belong to to state or feds and they get testy  >:( if you catch it on fire.
