VinnyQH Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 are there any modifications that i can do to quiet down the bolt action on the 522? I'm picking up my suppressor in just a couple more weeks and just want it to be super quiet.ThanksVincent
imschur Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 Using the it will polish the mating surfaces surfaces over time and that should allow you to cycle the action with slow quiet finesse. Some of that noise just cant be eliminated
bdavison Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 Most of the noise comes from it resetting the hammer, and slamming against the steel bumper. Maybe changing the steel bumper out to nylon or hard silicone would get rid of some of the noise, but i dont know how it will affect cycling...especially suppressed. Heavier recoil spring might work too. The suppressor feeds more backpressure to the bolt for sure. These two options might get rid of the noise created when the bolt slams into the rear of the reciever. In all reality....how quiet do you want it. If bolt noise is that big of a deal, perhaps you should modify it to fire from a locked bolt, and manually cycle it for each round. (e.g. Turn it into a bolt action rifle)
