Michigan Joe
Of course, the Army still uses the M-14 when they need a "real" rifle in Afghanistan.https://rdl.train.army.mil/soldierPortal/atia/adlsc/view/public/23366-1/ST/FM23-8/FM23_8.PDFExpert Marksmanship badge was earned by 27 or more hits out of 32. Now it is 36 out of 40, I think.
bdavison
I think its 38 of 40 now, but i cant remember. I shot 40 of 40, and got expert when i was in back during desert storm/desert calm. Some of these new guys can flat shoot. Ive seen a couple of the recent shooters taking shots, and i have a feeling they are going to bump up the difficulty soon on both the m14 and the m16. Michigan Joe
I believe Expert's up to 38 out of 40. Less recoil and straight stock maybe? I was reading through the M-14 manual and saw the part on "spot weld." I need a high stock, so all of the force of the recoil was concentrated on my thumb into my cheek. Used to hurt and bleed. They don't do that anymore, which is good.
