Vertical grip???

Ok, this has been debated by a few folks in my neck of the woods. I would like some clarification regarding the use of a vertical grip on a 522 pistol. I bought the pistol for plinking and target shooting, it's a fun shooting toy. I wanted to add a vertical grip to add more stability for target acquisition, but spoke to one gun shop and they said it would be illegal. I went to another gun shop and they said it's legal. Since this is a pistol, that has no real place of it's own in these forums, I thought I would ask in this room. thanks for any advice in advance.

Vertical fore grips are restricted on pistols by Federal law.

To legally install one on a pistol the pistol must be registered as an AOW under the GCA of 1968.

Thank you for the info, I actually read a letter from the ATF regarding the matter. The last I wanted was to go to the range and end up with a fine or worse. Thanks for the help. :auto:
