Cleaning

Just tossed the bolt and barrel of my Browning Buckmark Camper into the sonic cleaner. The receiver will go next. Of all my guns this is the one who gets real finicky if it isn't well cleaned.

I'm thinking about one of those sonic cleaners. How well does it work?

I keep my guns very clean all the time but was amazed at the amount of crud left in the tank after I got done.

I have the smaller Hornady model which is just big enough to hold the bolt, slide and removed barrel in one session and the receiver in a separate one. Most of the grime came from the receiver.

.22 rimfire ammunition is the most dirtiest of all metallic cartridge ammunition. I use a "Simple Green" type of cleaner in my ultra-sonic apparatus. Due to that stuff being water soluble, a good wipe down after the parts are dried with a product like EEZOX is a good idea
