I think these Mossbergs would be a great first rifle for a kid. I imagine given the choice of a plain 10/22 and this a kid would pick the Mossberg, the parents might also at that price, my stainless 10/22 was $296. After I get my Spikes Tactical I might be interested in one of these for my wife to see if I can here involved in .22 rifle shooting.

I wonder if NY state has tried to force these gun makers out. I lived near the Remington plant in upstate NY when they made the decision to move to NC. It was because of operating cost and in inability to modernize the old plant.

According to New Mexico Game & Fish the coyotes here average between 20 and 40 pounds. Which makes sense less available food around for them. From back in my 20s when I hunted them in counties with bounties on them I'd say a lot of them are closer to the lower end of that weight range. The problems with them here comes from where housing has been built near the open areas, mainly in the form of then preying on small pets. They are aggressive around some of the better know parks that attract people from outside the state because to many toss food to them or leave it where they can get at it. I quite often see them on my way to the gun club of which 10 miles or more of the trip is through ranch land on dirt roads. My wife sees them regularly on her way to work in the morning, both in the sub-division and as she is leaving the housing area, our house is less than a quarter mile from the open land of the Santa Ana Pueblo reservation. A lot of small pets come up missing in this area, we have 2 80 pound plus dogs so I don't worry about it.

Ruger 10/22 Rifle Cleaning and Armorers Bench Mat
asmurff replied to imschur's topic in Ruger 10-22 General
I won't mind having several of these, need the one for the XD since my wife only shoots about twice a year and can never remember how to tear it down. -
Essentially what my Mom said the other day the live in NJ half way between Trenton and the shore.

We're under the influence of "La Nina" which means no precipatation, which usually means no snow pack to melt in the spring a drought next summer. We've only had 8.3 inches of rain this year.

Oh I didn't see the rifles >:D

Actually I was planning on using them in my Browning Buckmark. My rifles stay in the safe but I have a place with easy secure access for my pistols.

On 11/28 I ordered two certified pre-owned NOOKs (an Electronic Book Reader) from Barnes & Noble for Christmas presents. On the 29th I got an e-mail saying my order was canceled do to non-availability, on the 30th I called to confirm this and the get them to remove the hold on the funds in my account. Today I get an email saying they have been shipped so I call again and they are suppose to be here tomorrow, problem is we had already bought 2 brand new ones from the local Barnes & Noble at $50 more apiece. So I guess when the ones arrive tomorrow we'll look them over good and then return the 2 new ones to the store. Shame I can't make them pay for my wasted time on the phone and the trip to the store. Bah Humbug!

I've considered getting some of this, but am not sure how effective it would be on a coyote, the only varmit I'd worry about dealing with.

I followed the link the camo job is fantastic, and I read all the comments then couldn't figure out how I got the .308 net, yelp I'm losing it.

Welcome to the group, now you'll have to buy one of each ;D

Looks like a good one. Does grow flowers or veggies.

At some point I'd like to get the GSG 1911, at the cost of the good conversion kits I figure I might as well get a whole new pistol. Until then I'll keep plinking with my Buckmark Camper. The NM winner of the Ruger Rimfire Challenge has won the last 2 years with a Buckmark, bet that tics off Ruger. But I would like a .22 with all the same controls as my other 1911s.

I take it they won't fess up? Wasn't it S&W who put limitations on the Military discount also? Not a good way to do business these days.

I've started replacing my Butler creek "Hot Lip" magazines with the "Steel Lip" ones, the hot lips are all showing a lot of wear. My last Tactical .22 match I pull a magazine out of my vest pocket and you'd have thought I'd shaken a champagne bottle about half of the 25 rounds shot straight out because of the wear on one side. The difference in the two types of Butler Creek magazines is drastic and from what I see worth the difference in price.
