  1. Have you noticed that the hammer strut washer appears to be a two way washer. It has the detention on the one side which appears to accommodate the hammer spring, then it has the flat side. I wonder if that was intentional. If you use the detention side of the washer obviously the force of the spring is somewhat decreased. If you use the flat side of the washer (which is a pain to set in the trigger plate) you are getting a harder and faster slam of the hammer. I wonder if this was at least some part of the hammer strut mod?
  2. I wish I would've had my camera after shooting at a 5 gallon bucket with CCI Mini Mags, CCI Velocitor's, & Aguila Super Max hollow points. The entrance holes with the Aguila's were close to an inch in diameter! This seems to be a little devastating 22LR round. I was also amazed at the size of the furrows it was leaving in the berm. Even just as important, I was amazed at how clean the gun stayed! I am hooked! The only con I can think of is that it seems to be louder than the average .22LR. I found a brick of 500 for $29.99!!!! I am curious to see how the Aguila Interceptors preform...
  3. WARNING: The link below contains photos of actual gun shot victims of various calibers including the .22LR. 4. I paid $33 for a twin pack 22 rds. If you're willing to wait almost three weeks.
  5. One of many different outfits I dress her up in:
  6. Shot placement is paramount. I've seen a single BB gun shot permanently paralyze a kid. My skinny co-worker shot 9 times with a 9mm and walked out of the hospital a few days later. I've seen a guy on PCP take a .44 mag in the back and keep walking like a wasp just stung him. Eventually he died of course. Y'all remember 'SCARFACE' the Tony Montana scene where her taking all kinds of fire, while he's coked up? That's Hollywood but not far from the truth. Shot placement and quality ammo is what is all about. Just today I was shooting a 5 gallon bucket with Aguila Super Max HP were making 1" entry holes. Remember, practice, train hard, train safe.
  7. I have to admit, the OEM trigger housing is far better quality than the ICS. With the ICS it feels like you are handling a heavy toy. Looks great though, I have not shot it with the ICS lower yet.
  8. Your deep study of this little sub gun we all enjoy is greatly appreciated. Not only do I trust your diagnosis, but am greatly anticipating the instructions on the mod to share with entire GSG-5 community. great job!
  9. That handguard should pop right in with the factory screw pin, or the HK push pins if you have them. You have an SD version which I am not familiar with but it should not be any different. You're just basically swapping out handguards.
  10. http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.php?cPath=25_99&products_id=28553 $12.00. Anytime pal.
  11. This is not good. Maybe that is why it's thirty dollars cheaper than anywhere else. Anyone else having this problem with Brownells 3 lug? I would return it; don't risk damaging the threads. If you can get your money back, spend the extra $30 and get one from Gem Tech.
  12. Thank you Kilibreaux for that tremendous wealth of information and experience supplied. I too, have seen my share of gun shot wounds in my 11 years of street patrol in South Florida, as well as personal experiences. In 1989 a friend and co-worker was shot 9 times in a botched armored car robbery. He was skinny at 5 foot 10 and around 150lbs. He was struck 5 times in the torso once in the hand (blew off his pinky) once in the arm, and twice in the thigh. All 9mm JHP within 5 yards. The following night I went to visit him at the hospital, and to my amazement, he looked perfectly fine. Aside from all the bandaging around his body he was awake, alert, talking like he was there for a flu shot. His partner was not as fortunate, as he took a single .223 to the head at point blank range. Anyone living in NYC in '89 would remember the massive manhunt for these killers in Queens. Even after being shot 9 times, my buddy managed to empty his .38 revolver into the suspects fleeing vehicle striking one (non-fatal) and blowing out a tire and back window; forcing the suspects to abandon the car and flee on foot. This was the incident that drove me out of NYC. This is why I become a cop. In another incident I had a 83 y/o shot himself in the mouth with a .38 snub nose 10 feet from me and my partner. It blew a small piece of the back of his skull off. He lived. In my training, I have seen video of officer involved shootings in which a single .22 LR shot has dropped and killed officers. President Reagan's bullet missed his heart by my less than an inch. In closing, yes the .22 ain't no joke, and I also pack my magazines with Aguila Super Max!
  13. No doubt I am anxious to get into this mod. I am going to get a Navy and SEF lower even though I like the grip of the SEF better. If I have any questions I let you know. I have to buy a few things, like a dremel first. Thanks again, and I'll keep you informed.
  14. Thank you sideshow99! That was some interesting reading. The only thing I didn't see mentioned, was what size bit used to drill out the trigger housing (the part I wasn't to thrilled about). I guess once the trigger housing is drilled out, you can not re-use the original selector switch. That being said, I am hoping the newer MP5 selector can be modified to fit the expanded opening in the trigger housing, for those of us that will be switching back and forth from the Navy lower to SEF lower. Thanks again C:-)
  15. ATI is not the only GSG-5 Importer
  16. It seems that a lot of GSG-5 owners who change to the SEF lower, are using a HK G3/91/94 selector switch (aka blocking bar). I have seen the switch go for as little as $1.95 used, to $39.95 new. It looks like all you do is grind down the bar to the shape of the original switch and you have a metal upgrade to your safety switch. Anyone out there done this mod, or seen it elsewhere?
  17. Does anyone else have the last few imported GSG-5's by Austrian Sporting Arms? Notice how the screws are different, and seem to come with updated screws installed. I thought only ATI imported these?
  18. I wound up using Van's Instant Gun Blue. Van's has been in the bluing business since the 1940's, and the 4oz bottle was only 7 bucks.
  19. Wow! 30 bucks cheaper than any one else.
  20. I can name a few more: 1. Steel receiver instead of Aluminum. 2. One piece receiver instead of two. 3. One piece trigger group (This and #2 would eliminate over a dozen screws) On the exterior the GSG-5 is a good MP5 clone. However in the interior they could not be more different.
  21. What have you used for cleaner / degreaser? Brownells TCE is way too expensive at $26 a can. I've heard a lot of good reviews about Aluma-Hyde II.
  22. After a little research I answered my own question-No you can't run 3 cr123a's on a 6 volt lamp. Each battery is 3 volts.
  23. I just purchased this (pictured) GSG MP5 tactical handguard from e-bay. It came with that weird looking piece that looks like some kind of conductor or spacer. The handguard itself is solidly constructed with no running wires inside the handguard like others I've seen. My question is can you run a three cell cr123a with a 6v lamp? When I tried to use my Surefire Z2 in the handguard which needed the third battery for completed contact I got no power :-[
  24. Hey, thanks a lot, that helped big time. I think I am gonna go with Classic Army for $70.
  25. How many of you have one of these babies on your weapon? If so, name the manufacturer, quality, price, and place of purchase. Pictured, is the 'real deal' Surefire 628 series. Thanks.
