Stoeger is ok for a low-cost shotgun, but will NEVER be on par with CZ, Weatherby or Browning. In my opinion CZ makes some of the finest firearms to ever be made. Their sporting shotguns are museum quality, and smoking gorgeous. If CZ is good enough for Tom Knapp....its good enough for the rest of us.

surprised you got a .25 to go through the bore without snapping the cleaning rod. Kudos to you...LOL

If you are interested in getting the most out of the TR, go get Lapua X-act ammo. Its pricey, but is a marksmanship type .22 ammo used in olympic and shooting events. Its extremely accurate. However, the TR is extremely accurate even with regular box ammo. The CCI Standard Velocity stuff is plenty accurate enough for 300yd shots. I would never have imagined getting solid consistent long range shots at 300 yes with a .22, but I'm not joking when I say the TR can totally do it, and it isn't even hard to do. I haven't found a range long enough to really see just how far out you can hit something. Longest Ive been able to shoot it at is 300yds. Its insane how accurate it is. Best .22 rifle Ive ever bought, wish I could have had it back when I was shooting them competitively. Seriously, it outshoots some olympic grade rifles Ive had.

Thing about suppressors is that they are an investment...a sound investment. For one, you are protecting your hearing. For two, they have great resale value. For three, anyone that buys them from you later; you know is a upstanding gun enthusiast. For four, it ticks off the liberals. For five, its a conversation piece at the gun range. For six, it won't wake up half the neighborhood when you have to dispatch a intruder. For seven, they won't be able to tell anyone how many rounds were fired. For eight, they never knew what hit them. For nine, they can't tell where you are so they can't shoot back.

I too have a Mark 2 TR in desert tan. I know what you mean about accuracy. It will flat out shoot just about any .22 out there. Hits at well over 200yds are easy....ive yet to find something i couldnt hit with it....the ranges just arent long enough. Normally .22 starts getting iffy at 120yds....i dont know how they did it, but this thing is amazing. As close to shooting centerfire as a .22 will ever get.

Its about time...this guy has been a plague in the gun world for decades...and not just the problems with his .22 conversions. He's a thief, and a prolific one at that.

Ok guys, finally got it out to the range. After a quick sight-in, shot a 10 rounds at 100yds just to see what it would do. Was rather surprised at this..... [img width=800 height=450]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/317865_2142521082294_1224218575_32080066_1896929776_n.jpg Using CCI Standard Velocity 1080fps lead rounds. I cant wait to see what it will do with Lapua X-act ammo. Conditions were: 5-7mph wind, coming from 10:30 to my shooting position. 84 degrees, Sunny Skies, 0% precip. I couldnt tell where they were hitting at that range, me and my buddy Aaron walked downrange to see what it looked like, and about jaw-dropped when we saw the target.

Coolest little Tactical 22 I've seen in awhile

Cant go wrong with a Mk2 TR. Im so glad I bought mine. -
CCI is about the only one that performs in everything equally. I use the Federal bulk in my Sigs for the most part, simply cause its cheap. But my Mk2 is getting fed a strict diet of CCI because of the accuracy.
-
nope...sorry. And its highly unlikely that there ever will be. For one, .223 needs a gas or piston system...which the sig 522 doesnt have. Also, the ejection port isnt big enough and would have to be enlarged, a whole other bolt system would have to be designed with locking lugs to the barrel...and thats assuming that the gun could handle that kind of charge. If you want a dual caliber gun, you'd be better off going with a AR chambered for .223, and then get a CMMG .22 conversion bolt for it.
-
Scope on my rifle is not the one it came with. It came with a 3-9x40 no-name scope. Which isnt bad....but I still prefer the BSA Contender scopes for .22 rifles. So I swapped it out.

Here we go... Upper rifle - Rem 700 Tactical M24, and the lower rifle is the Savage MkII TR [img width=800 height=537]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/310922_2123419924777_1224218575_32064525_322603180_n.jpg View of the Accutrigger, and the inserted magazine. The Accutrigger for those of you that have never used one is user-adjustable. You can adjust it anywhere from about 3oz to 4.5lbs. It is very VERY crisp. The rifle comes with a special tool that you insert into the trigger group, and you can simply turn a screw to adjust the trigger. [img width=800 height=537]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/294421_2123417084706_1224218575_32064514_1626965993_n.jpg The oversized bolt handle and safety. The bolt is tight in the gun, I guess it will take some shooting time to loosen up a bit. [img width=800 height=537]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/296396_2123417364713_1224218575_32064515_952774059_n.jpg Muzzle end of the barrel showing the target crown, and the fluted barrel. Savage apparently thought ahead for those of us that like to suppress them, and left the last bit of barrel un-fluted should we choose to thread it. [img width=800 height=537]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/295808_2123417804724_1224218575_32064517_493605141_n.jpg An overhead shot of the front of the stock and the barrel. As you can see the stock is wide so it sits well when on a bench/rest/bipod/etc. Also the barrel is free-floated for increased accuracy. [img width=800 height=537]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/291854_2123417924727_1224218575_32064518_1273435381_n.jpg Opened bolt, showing chamber, and you can see the red magazine follower. Bolt removes just like any other bolt action...pull to rear, pull trigger, and bolt slides right out. [img width=800 height=537]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/315810_2123418084731_1224218575_32064519_1028807569_n.jpg The sexiest stock ever found on a .22 bolt-action rifle. LOL. Tall cheekpiece, vertical grip, textured, flat bottom, and notch for supporting with left hand during prone shooting. Just totally awesome. [img width=800 height=537]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/316815_2123418524742_1224218575_32064520_1121735086_n.jpg Magazine and magazine well. The release is at the rear of the mag well. 5 round magazine....which is more than enough for what this gun was designed for. [img width=800 height=537]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/292077_2123418764748_1224218575_32064521_1698478519_n.jpg The bolt has a rather unique double claw extractor. Extraction on the gun is very VERY good. It launches empties. [img width=800 height=537]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/312648_2123419404764_1224218575_32064523_1274502719_n.jpg The bolt. Gotta do up my ballistics tables, and really launch a few out there.

Ok, so I just had to have one. Once I saw it, I wanted it....picked it up today. Savage makes the Mk2 TR in a couple of different versions. 1. Desert Tan Stock .22 2. Black Stock .22 3. Black Stock .17HMR I dont know if they make a desert tan .17HMR version. I purchased the Desert Tan .22LR version. What really sold me on this rifle was that it is a dead on accurate .22 version of a tactical rifle. McMillian style stock, fluted bull barrel, oversized bolt handle, adjustable accutrigger, and it comes with scope and mounts. If you ever wanted a .22 that mimics your full blown $3000 tactical sniper rifle....this one is it. The stock is amazing. Its wood, coated and textured just like the McMillian stocks. If I didnt know better, I'd sware it was made by McMillian. The grip is vertical, unlike a standard sporting rifle stock. The cheekrise is positioned so that you dont need a aftermarket cheekpiece to get proper sight picture. Underneath the stock is a notched out area for you to use to pull the rifle into your shoulder while shooting prone, and its flat on the bottom for using sandbags. The forend of the stock is wide, and tapered so you can adjust elevation by sliding it forward or backward on your sandbag/pack. It has Sling mounts pre-installed, and the mount for a harris bipod in addition to the sling mounts. The barrel and reciever is coated in a tactical black non-reflective coating. The barrel is fluted, and the crown is a target crown. Its thick, beefy and free-floated right from the factory. The magazine is a 5 round metal mag. From what I've read online regarding it, is that it is a tackdriver...only time will tell. I fully plan to wring it out at 100yds and find out what it's capable of. Pics coming right up!

It really doesnt take too long. Most of the grips can be done in about 30 minutes. Its much cheaper to do it yourself than to send it off to robar.
-
Appears to be the stock grip, just re-textured with a soldering iron. Ive done it to many of my grips as well...although I use a slightly different technique. [img width=800 height=537]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/310420_2098479741288_1224218575_32046187_1163669745_n.jpg

Got my hands on one of these today. If you are into long range tactical rifles, this one is hands down the best "sniper-esc" training rifle out there. They also make it with a desert tan stock, and it comes with a accutrigger that is adjustable from 3oz to 4.5lbs. The bolt handle is a oversized tactical type bolt. The stock is mcmillian/H-S Precision copy, and is just incredible. Fluted barrel. Its just begging to be taken out for a day of 100+ yard precision fun. Just wish .22 was enough to set off Tannerite...Some pill bottles would make for one incredible day of shooting. If I had the money in my pocket, its one of those guns that would have walked out with me without a second thought. I will be purchasing one of them. Its rare that a gun really gets my attention so much that it shoots to the top of my must have list...but this one just went right to the top. http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/model/MARKIITR

Yes, a few manufacturers make suppressors that utilize a special mount that mounts to the flashhider, but if I remember correctly, they require a slightly modified A2 flash hider specifically for the mount. Knights Armament, and Gemtech are two that come to mind. However, none of them make a .22 type suppressor with that setup. You could always go for a .223 suppressor which would work, and allow you to use them on both the .22 and any future .223 AR's that you aquire. As far as faux cans...none that I know of.

The friendly postman just delivered my 3 free magazines and extra mag holster today. So apparently Springfield's estimate of 8-12 weeks is the worst case scenario. It only took them 5 days. And to top that off, they sent me exactly what I wanted....3 of the compact 10 round mags. So now Ive got 5 magazines, (4) 10 round compact mags, and (1) 13 round full service length mag. THANKS SPRINGFIELD ARMORY!!!

Gotta check out the Ruger Mark III uppers from Pac-Lite... They are AWESOME! http://www.gunblast.com/Pac-Lite-22Barrels.htm

Yeah, typical defense lawyers...instead of worrying about the criminal charges, lets get em off on a anti-gun agenda technicality, and prevent any jurors with firearms knowledge, or expert witnesses from blowing their defense out of the water.

Interesting.... I think its time for a wishlist. Barrett .22 that looks like the .50 M1 Garand or M14 National Match Steyr AUG or P90 HK PSG-90
