  1. It looks like a pretty nice sight for a inexpensive unit, 150.00 at Cabela's, I have yet to shoot it but the reticle image is very sharp. the quick release is smooth, height seems to be right on when shouldered. uses diffrent bateries for the relex and lazer, It also looks like it will work well with the mag release on the 5.7 I have slowly stock piled a few rounds for it, finding a little at Cabela's and Gander Mountain, on Black Friday weekend, Qander had a whole table set out with 5.7 at 23.00 for 50. I bought 4 boxes but was pushing the budget. Had bought a Ruger 22/45 lite and a few accessories the day before!
  2. Received several firearm related gifts! My Wife purchased me a Fab Defense angled fore grip, thumb rest and contoured/finger pistol grip for my AR-57, I used a couple of gift cards I received to top it off with a Sight Mark Reflex/Laser Sight. As part of Christmas shopping, I might have bought myself a Palano All Weather 42 inch hard case for it also!
  3. A day late! but merry Christmas!
  4. good news is...I do not have a ex wife!
  5. Some irony here, On the day Mikhail Kalashnikov dies I leave a builders shop with a 20 inch AK barrel that I am going to thread and possibly do some other mods on for my first Ak that he is going to build for me. A mid range sniper style AK....but we might have had some conversation about a very traditional AK also, but have not broke ground on that one yet.

    ammo shortage

Here in the Denver, the 22 ammo has been hit and miss, have yet to walk into a Walmart and find it in over a year. Every now and then I get lucky at one LGS, stopped going to another because he was nasty to me pretty much any time I came in and asked for ammo, bought a bunch of cleaning supplies there, a few accessories. But he always seemed to be pretty short because I was not buying a gun when I came in. Pretty much a self full-filing prophecy. I will not purchase a gun there because he is short with me and will not sell me ammo... He's not going to sell me any ammo because I have never bought a gun from him, of well. The hits here are usually a couple of boxes at Cabela's if your there early enough right after they stock, got a couple of 100 rounds at one stop at Sportsman Warehouse, My other LGS every now and then. On Thanksgiving was able to score two bulk packs of Golden bullets as a door buster at Dick's and then after purchasing a new toy at Sportsman over the weekend, they produced a 500 round bulk pack of Thunderbolts to be available with the new toy! (pictures coming soon)...Basically I make the rounds, If I see 22..I buy it
  8. lol...know what you mean... I have been averaging one a month now for just over a year
  9. greetings and welcome!
  10. nice!!!!
  11. New Toys! What Fun!
  12. In preparation of the pending Pop Can Apocalypse, knowing they are constantly increasing their ranks, having now expanded their organization by joining leagues with Beer,Tea and other factions of the cast off Beverage Container Hoards. We have diligently complemented our arsenal with the combination of the S&W M&P 15-22 Carbine and Pistol. Featuring Tactical Color Fill on these Black Weapons Systems (Sorry rodent.22 the green had to go!) inexpensive Red Dot optics, with the pistol optics including a laser sight for close quarter low light conditions and a assorment of other small features. We feel we have now increased our survivability probability rate for our home and community when the chaos ensues and the Pop Can Apocalypse begins with the beverage cans rioting in the streets and seeking to destroy all that is important in this great country.
  13. I Have a can de-natured alcohol in the cabinet and have thought about trying it...but so far the brake clean has worked well! Good looking XD!
  14. Thank you for the comments! I have never reloaded, might get around to that some day! So mostly when I do take it out it will be some type of off the shelf ammo. I have been doing some work for a Smith/Builder so I will get some pointers on how to check and deal with the head space! As time allows I have had a desire to learn a little smithing so chances are, I would take the work on myself!...if I could find the time! lol have a few projects I am wanting to try my hand at! Have not shot it yet, but checked out a club with a 100 yard range that was close buy over the weekend, will probably take it there if I get a break in the work schedule! Not comfortable shooting anything high powered on the personal shooting area I have been working on...still needs a lot more bullet stop. What I have, I feel pretty good about shooting 22's and have a short distance hole that works well for hand guns. just think I have more work to do to deal with higher energy rounds.
  15. couple more
  16. a few more
  17. The original Enfield was Sportized probably a little over 42-45 years ago, it been so many years I struggle to remember its features no less what it was like before my father had it sporterized. This one being a sporty already was attractive, my missing 303 had a scope, a couple of inches cut off the barrel and I think the stock had been cut down a little and a recoil pad added. I do remember before being sporterized it had a compass mounted in the stock, I just recently learned that that was something somebody probably did to replace the the armorers tag. I do remember being disappointed that the compass had been removed and the hole filled when dad had it sporterized. lol..the things we thought were important when we were little kids! I had looked at several different Enfields recently, never realizing before that there were so many variants, I could be wrong, but this one seemed the closest to what I remembered (beyond the sporterization). The safety is right, the receiver band seems right, the rear of the bolt is smooth and I am pretty sure the one I had, had serrations on it. It was tagged a No4 Mk 1 and is stamped that also! it shows 1944 I want to think my original one was a 1944 also, but I can not remember for sure.!
  18. I have been using the Sharpie brand paint pens, have not compared them to everything but the paint seems to be a little thicker then a few others that I have tried. I clean the lettering with a little brake clean on a towel then fill the lettering to the point where it is completely covered, wait a minute or two and then give the excess a quick dab, it will streak on the surface but I just leave that alone for a couple more minutes and then spray just a little brake clean on a towel and then wipe the streaks. do not put to much brake clean on the towel that way the break clean does not go into the lettering and loosen the paint in the lettering. It seems to take two-three applications like this to get a good fill. When the fill is looking good, a little more brake clean and towel action to clean it all up and then let it sit a little while longer...10 minutes or so then I clean it all up with first some Hopps # 9 and then wipe it all down with Rem Oil the Hopps and oil seem to cut the residue and streaking caused by the brake clean and brings back a nice look to the black. Thanks Guys! when its all done and ready I will post pics of the pistol and rifle together!
  19. Doing a little color fill on a new toy
  20. years ago a close family friend gave a rifle similar to this one to my father. my father hunted with it for years and passed it on to me when I was in my teens, the hunting bug really never took hold but I always cherished that old rifle, unfortunately back in the mid 90's it was lost to a home burglary. I saw this one in a store last Friday, picked it up and could not let it go. Although it can never replace what has been lost, it can serve as a representative of something very precious now missing.... just thought I would share this today
  21. cool pics! thanks for sharing!
