Welcome Tom!

Crazy day...started out looking for 22 ammo...was a excuse to go to gun stores with my daughter...Grumpy LGS owner usually will not sell me ammo because I have never bought a gun from him let us have 100 rds, guessing because I my youngest daughter was in tow... Oldest daughter called. "They have 22lr at Cabelo's" called wife, get her to head to Cabelo's, youngest Daughter and I also get headed. While oldest daughter is being a super shopper and trying to calculate round cost on the packaging...shelves almost instantly clear out of CCI Mini Mag 375 packs...but she at least had one in her hand...Wish she would have grabbed 4 peoples worth of limit and stuck it in the cart! but she didn't. but told us over the phone they had 100 round boxes and 50 round boxes. well by the time youngest daughter, wife and I all converged, we did manage to get 6-50 round boxes (2 Each) just moments before the shelves cleared. But all said and done, between the fire drill for Cabelo's and the Grumpy LSG ownere, 475 rds of CCI Mini Mags, and 300 rounds of CCI standard velocity....In one morning!!!!! The rest of the day...we spent getting ready for our trip to Pawnee Buttes to go shoot and set up for the Tactical Postal Match ...and of course the afternoon rain came...the wind came...and by the time we actually got started shooting, we lost light quickly, played with my M&P a little, took the red dot off, put on open sights...Mistake...tried to go back to the red dot, failed to get it sighted back in....Failed to take any shots on the Postal match Targets... lol...guess I will try to slip over to family land tomorrow (hopefully the cows are not in the back ground and try again) On a couple of notes, M&P continues to eat pretty much everything I put in it, I grabbed a older brick from my hoard, with out thinking it through, we were running Remington Vipers, Truncated cone Hyper Velocity, not sure if I should be shooting those in the M&P...But they ran well in both the M&P and Marlin 60 that my daughter was plinking away with. As we lost light, I got out my Purple Plinkinator, A Stevens 62, and did a little low light shooting through a scope at some spinners, It would not chamber the Viper's with the truncated cone, but ran fine on the few mini mags and standard cci's I put through it.

COOL. Really wanted to do this, but no way to get away from the shop and no place near by to shoot 50 yards (currently my son in laws cows are grazing in the area where I can set up)
-
If you extend it...I'll drop mine in the mail on Tuesday! ...not that any of my shooting will probably measure up! but will try it with the GSG AK 47-22 and the S&W M&P 15-22!

just couldn't get away from the shop to go some place and set up to do this...We might take a road trip to Pawnee Buttes this weekend...but will be to late ( Pawnee Buttes is a area that is open to shooting)

In the Denver area, a couple of new Cabela's opened up, The North Store opened with 6000lbs of 22lr. I Believe they had a two box limit and didn't make it through the Grand opening weekend before they were out. I avoided the zoo...a friend went the day of the grand opening and gave up after waiting a hour and a half and never made it in to the store.

She said she really liked shooting cans and I have given some thought to doing the hanging can thing! if we can go out again before she returns to Kuwait on the 27th we will have to give it a try! I put 7 rounds through the bottom of that can, three of them were at some other time when it "Presented" its self but there were 4 back to back and that made me giggle a little, we were only about 35 yards but there was just no missing with the old single shot! -

Well if grand kids ever come! lol it will go to who ever shows interest! But I think I am going to restore it, it still looks real good but there are a couple of little spots in the bluing were it had picked up a little rust from sitting and one pretty good scratch in the stock from where it fell out of its resting place in my bedroom when I was a probably 12. But dang the thing still shoots great, we were not at any great distance, but at one point there was a can showing its bottom side and I put four rounds in a row right threw the bottom of the can in a pretty tight group before the can flipped! -
So yesterday, once again a brutal assault of pop cans took place... I took my youngest daughter, who is now 24, out shooting, something we had never done while she was growing up. Started her out on a single shot 22 with some Sub Sonic's, The single shot posed a challenge for her, she can't wink, or close one eye at a time and the single shot has a peep sight, she then breezed through the Marlin/Glenfield Model 60, struggled with the open sights but enjoyed it. Attached a red dot on it, She liked the red dot. Put a few rounds through the GSG AK, but quickly was asking for a red dot for it (no provisions to mount one) So I then broke out the S&W M&P 15-22, it has a red/green dot on it, she liked the green and before to long she had cans a flying at will, discovering if she shot them at the bottom, they jumped up and flew around. She put a few rounds through the Sig Mosquito, but the M&P 15-22 is where she settled in, reloading several clips on her own and blasted away till the wife called and said we were almost a hour late for dinner with some friends! On a technical note the M&P cycled the Sub Sonic's when the Sig Mosquito and the Model 60 would not, but both cycled fine on Federal's The old friend part... The Single shot 22, A Sears & Roebuck (Winchester) Model 1 that I received as a Christmas present when I was 11 years old, the little ole single shot served me well for most of my youth but found its way to the back of the closet as other interest took over. 25 years or so ago it was thought to have been lost in a house fire after having lending it a family member to see if her son had any interest. It was a bitter sweet moment when I found it in a closet in my parents house a little while after my fathers passing almost 6 years ago. The little single shot was sent off to then sit in my son in laws safe in hopes of grand kids. So yesterday. I plinked away for a little bit with the little single shot, probably been over 30 years since the last time I fired it and dang that little gun still shoots good!

I have a CNC mill, little more info on the Part?
-
have both the plinker tactical's and the pro mags, plinkers work well if...I load them super carful making sure they stager correctly, load 34, not 35, have had first round load problems at 35 and rap them a few times.. Pro Mags, make sure they stagger and go. If the two were side by side on the store shelf, I am leaving with the Pro Mags!

I looked at a left handed version in a store a week ago..looked like a nice piece!
-
welcome and enjoy the GSG!
-
Keep and use them as a 20% display of civil disobedience! lol

That's cool to hear, I have not seen a tactical in any of our local Wal marts since sandy hook..
-
I hope their model works, I also hope that they do not allow the political climate to dictate corporate policy. Watching what has happened in the last few months, I am going to guess that many retailers will be adjusting inventory and stocking levels. I would guess Wal-Mart will not handle a tactical again...if not a complete elimination of semi automatics

Welcome! A 10/22 take down is on my wish list!

How wacked is it when getting my hands on a bulk pack of Remington Golden Bullets is cause for celebration!

Thanks for taking on the task TM and I am awaiting my Red headed dancing girl with great optimism

First time shooting it...did i get a bad one?

I have yet to put a ton of ammo through mine, but a little trouble with cheap ammo and the plinker tactical mags, still need to run some newer/tighter stuff through it. But initial gut feelings our the pro-mags work better then the plinkers, my one factory mag has worked well also -
cool fun! let the good times roll!
