techmike
Don't know if this is "normal" for the Colt/Umarex or not. (14 months and about 3.5K to 4.5K rounds) But the mainspring deformed and wore badly. Started to get some strange functional issues. Paid $12 for new one including shipping. I have never seen a spring deform like this before. :confused:TM
techmike
Well, Colt says I had the spring adjusted too tight. (On the original spring). The new spring, (which is a heavier spring per Colt), should be adjusted as follows: With the adjustment screw flush with the surrounding metal, turn it in 4 complete revolutions clockwise.TM
Microgunner
So, you were shooting really hot ammo? And the factory spring can't handle the hottest ammo?
techmike
So, you were shooting really hot ammo? And the factory spring can't handle the hottest ammo?Uh, no. Federal bulk pack mostly. Nothing super hot. The spring is capable of much more than 4 revolutions, and they say I had it too tight. Microgunner
You tightened the main spring just enough to operate properly with Federal bulk and Umarex claims you over tightened it? They should have covered the cost.

rodent.22
I've had my spring cranked in all the way for a year, several thousand rounds down the tube. I looked at the spring closely and don't appear to be developing any issues. Thanks for the heads up....
