asmurff Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 My gun club is planning on starting Smallbore Silhouette competitions. From what I've seen on line it appears to be very challenging, I don't shoot off hand enough. Is it fun or just frustrating?
Microgunner Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 For me it's more fustration from lack of off hand shooting practice. But for those who've practiced extensively, they appear to enjoy it very much.
asmurff Posted April 8, 2011 Author Report Posted April 8, 2011 After watching several videos on it, along with the need for new rifle to do it I'll have to consider more.
Madhouse Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 What are the rules they're using? Open on optics, or irons only?
kevinpagano Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Hey mike, I shot smallbore silhouette in Colorado before moving here. Ok the answer to your question is that it can be very very frustrating and very rewarding. I would not catagorize it as fun, but rewarding. When you actually hit those little animals it will put a smile on your face. Remember that low heart rate and breathing along with technique are critical. You need your rifle to shoot at least 1.5 moa. to feel comfort. Glass and repeatability of scope is very important as you will be going up and down on those turrets alot. Wind is killer in this sport as it affects your hold and standing still and it also affects your bullet. Spotter is critical in this situation. When they get the range open. I will let you shoot my rifle and you can decide if you like it yourself.
