techmike Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 Hey guys - I have an Ithica model 51 12 ga featherweight. I used it for many years as my primary pheasant and quail gun. Then, one opening day, it starting malfing with 3" shells. It fires the chambered round, drops the next round out the bottom and jams up on the third round. But, it works fine with 2 3/4" shells. I have replaced the main recoil spring, and both singulator springs. Everything looks ok. Any suggestions?TM
techmike Posted August 20, 2010 Author Report Posted August 20, 2010 Nope. Ithica reopened near here, in ohio, but they don't seem to answer e-mails. This one has got me stumped. Logic says, the recoil spring must be weak - as the lighter loads work a-ok. :confused:TM
Microgunner Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Possibly you were shipped a recoil spring for a 2 3/4" only Ithaca model? Incorrectly packaged from the factory?
techmike Posted August 21, 2010 Author Report Posted August 21, 2010 Well, that's possible. I got the spring from gun parts Corp. I will have to re-look at that spring. Thanks MG!TM
imschur Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 Ha! It sounds like you might be on to something :thumb:
