American Eagle 40 grainsolid point unplated- .9790 OAL, bullet diameter .2235, shell diameter .2240. As you can see, the Remington bullet and shell diameters are larger than all the other rounds, except for the Winchester Xpert shell diameter, which is the same as the Remington. In a tight chamber the combination of a larger diameter bullet and a larger diameter shell casing would cause failure to seat in the chamber, failure to eject and light strike problems (caused by the firing pin driving the shell forward in the chamber causing a light imprint in the rim.) The Winchester Xpert ammo also has a larger diameter shell, but the brass doesn't seem to ''grab'' the chamber walls unless combined with the larger diameter bullet, like the Remington ammo. If you are having problems with your .22, you very possibly have a ''tight chamber'' and you need to change to a smaller .22 round. Overall length can vary, the diameter is what is causing people problems....
