techmike Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 I REALLY like this rifle! After the second trip to the range with the Colt, I sold my SKS and all ammo and accessories. The Colt is a far superior plinking rifle, and I believe more accurate. And MUCH more fun!!!!!! Plus - feeding it is MUCH easier on the budget. The quality of the Colt/Umarex is outstanding. The SKS was inferior in comparison. However, not being allowed to remove the bolt for maintenance is a negative for the Colt.TM :)
techmike Posted August 31, 2009 Author Report Posted August 31, 2009 OK - The bolt DOES come out fairly easily - but there IS one pesky spring that likes to fly away. If any one is interested, I can post detailed instructions for a detailed cleaning.TM
imschur Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 , I can post detailed instructions for a detailed cleaning.TM Heck yeah!!! I would like to put that on the main site as well.
techmike Posted August 31, 2009 Author Report Posted August 31, 2009 OK - I'll work on that this week - take some pics & post.TM ;)
27 Beck Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 Pics will help. Looking forward to the cleaning info.
Solscud007 Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 For those who havent seen them up close, the tactical OPS version has a free floating rail system. it does not touch the outer barrel. there is no contact from the front sight to the rail system either. I intend to replace the front sight with a simple slim gasblock. preferably a railed block. but I have not found one that I like.
imschur Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 Curiously do you know the diameter of the barrel under the block?Maybe there some inspiration here at one of my other sites
Solscud007 Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 No I dont. but thanks for the link. One thing I was worried about was the fact that a railed gas block might not be the same height as my upper receiver. The rail foregrip is all in line with the upper and i would like to extend that out to mount a flip front sight. I think I may have found a candidate. thanks again.
