asmurff Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 As some of you know I'm new to reloading pistol ammo and I have a question; How do you store your reloaded ammo long term? Are dry boxes enough or do you need to hermetically seal the ammo and if so how?
Mr. Jones Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 My brother reloads on a nearly professional level, he adds fine sawdust to each ammo can to absorb moisture. While i am sure it's not the best option, and certainly not the most technologically advanced; some of his ammo is decades old and still performs well.
Longitude Zero Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Also those small desicant pouches are commercially available.
techmike Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 Uncooked rice is a great moisture absorbent. I also use a primer sealant. TM
asmurff Posted August 17, 2010 Author Report Posted August 17, 2010 Hadn't though of the rice, even though I do put it in salt shakers.
Mr. Jones Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Never thought of rice either, good idea.Explains why many Asian have that "dry" sense of humor ;DLord, I apologize.
