Ahh yes, Connecticut. It is indeed sad how anti some of the NE states are. I was born and raised in northern Maine, left there for Texas when I was 25 and never regretted it. Although Maine is still pretty open with it's gun laws.

The black dogs won't work, I'm pretty sure -- I have a couple at home, I'll test it tonight. I think it's going to be S&W only.

Has anybody found a resource for S&W M&P 15-22 magazines? I would like to get a few spares.

Where are you? We rarely have a weekend here in Housto where I can't get to one local gun show or another. There are 2 big organizations that have them at the convention center downtown monthly, then there are the ones in Pasadena and Tomball, etc.

I've bought from Optics Planet once or twice. To be honest, I try and find deals on forums for NIB stuff. I picked up my latest EOTech that way. The NC Star stuff can be found at the local gun shows pretty often too.

It's pretty sick. My boss ordered them for me.

I really would like to have one of those! I tried to buy one a guy was selling a while back but I missed out on it. Do you carry it as a CCW?

Sorry man, you'll have to consult the BATFE rules. -

Man, one of the hardware guys just rolled his cart in here with a pair of 24" hp widescreens for me. My new resolution is 3840x1200. :o

steel - were the few failures that you had feeding issues? Like with regular lead bullets versus plated?
-
I'll tell ya, I sure haven't had any issues with mine. I love shooting the GSG, it has never hiccupped with a single FTF or FTE, and I've run hundreds upon hundreds of rounds through mine. It's been very reliable, and very consistent. Plinking steel silhouettes with the GSG using just iron sights is a blast! The quality is very good, imho. The only thing I would criticize is the slight amount of movement in the stock from side to side, not that it has any effect when you're shooting, just when you're handling it. Get one, you'll love it.

I took this one to the range with me yesterday, it is easily the best shooter in my safe. It can be controlled so easily, shots go where you expect them. I use a Kimber Ultra Carry II as my ccw.

No!!! At least not without a tax stamp from the BATFE!!! That would make the gun a short-barreled rifle (SBR) and illegal to own with being registered as such with the BATFE. -
Spike's Tactical .22 conversion bolt

Now that I have the S&W M&P 15-22, I may just put this on the market. 8) -
Here and there the ammo is starting to show up more, and the prices are occasionally decent (compared to recent, not to 5 years ago). I think it is slowly becoming more available. I've bought 6.8SPC, 5.7x28mm, and 5.56x45mm from True Hunter Supply, and always had good service and prices. I haven't tried to get any .22 from them.

I took my new M&P 15-22 to the range this morning, plinking steel silhouettes. Right out of the box, iron sights, I was hitting the little chickens at 40 yards 90% of the time. When I took my time, I was 10 for 10. I put 10 consecutive shots on the big ram at 100 yards, took me maybe 8 shots to down 5 turkeys at 100 yards. For the little chickens at 40 yards, I put the post on their feet, for the little pigs at 50 yards I put the post on the bottom of the belly, hogs at 77 yards I put the post on their back and for the turkeys at 100 yards I put it above them, top of their heads high. I put one of my EOTechs on it for a little while, but that just takes all the fun out of it. :D I fed it 50 rounds of Winchester 36 grain plated hollow points (1280 fps), then ran a bore snake through it, then 50 rounds of Aguila 40 grain std vel, bore snake, 50 rounds of Federal Champion 40 grain ball, then the bore snake, then 50 rounds of Winchester Wildcat white box stuff. I had one FTF, ,that was because I loaded 26 rounds in the 25 round mag. After that I loaded 20 or 10 at a time and never had another issue. Awesome, awesome weapon, I love it. If you're thinking of getting one, I highly recommend it, I doubt you will be disappointed. I know I'm not! ;D

I have this unit, usually run it in my High Standard AR. It typically runs pretty well, I had some FTE's early on, I think the spring was strong. It's a good unit, I have a couple of the Black Dawg mags for it. It's been a lot of fun to shoot.

I am, I have four of them. This is my favorite, my Custom Gold Combat: (click pic for hi-res version)

I used to run one of my EOTechs on the GSG, but it was jus too easy with the silhouettes, even at 100 yards it was hard to miss. So, I went back to iron sights. ;D

No doubt I will. 8)

The barrel isn't threaded for a flash hider, so I can't mount a can to it. My buddy who also bought one is pretty sure he can turn the threads on his lathe (I'll let him test it on his own MP). If he can, I'll be able to run my Spectre on it.
