Other than the disruption of the workers lives maybe being consolidated will improve the diversity of their selection. I own a Marlin .22 bolt action, it is a very accurate rifle, however, even Marlin offers nothing for it in the way of accessories or even gear and their web site has very little content. So maybe the infusion of new blood will help bring them up to date, but it is a shame it couldn't have happened in the New Haven plant.
I couldn't remember the corporations name but knew it own numerous ones. I'm pretty sure the CEO is big on keep jobs in the US, NRA ran an article on him last year I see if I can locate it.
State governments have be forcing these type of moves a lot lately. Does Marlin already have another plant somewhere else or are they consolidating with the other companies plants of the group that owns them? I was in upstate NY when Remington decided to head to NC because of operating cost and I'm sure idealogy reasons, the impact on the small town where the plant was harsh.
