Hello Tom, And welcome!
-
I have had a picture of a Thompson Sub conversion on my to-do list for a number of years - have to get a 10-22 first.

These are amazing. LINK

I have seen Fireclean advertised in gun mags, but I tend to not get excited about the latest/greatest thing to hit the market. So now the Firearm Blog has published evidence that appears to prove that the highly endorsed product Fireclean (Fireclean ad) is nothing more than vegetable oil sold at a 10,000% mark-up. Guess it is good to know that vegetable oil can be used as a gun lube in an emergency situation. Have you used Fire clean? What do you think about it? Link - you decide Fireclean responds

NICE! Excellent job, very sweet looking rifle. -
That is sweet! What a great idea.

Hey Madhouse, how's it going?
-
Well, it has been an stressful summer, Carol's mom passed. But I am still kicking, and hope to start getting out to the range. Only been out 4 or 5 times. I have not even got a fishing license yet. Work also has me on a crap schedule. But it is what it is.

Waiting for picture of that new rifle......

Hi everyone, Drew will be converting Tac.22 to the new software. This should happen tonight, September 2nd. Expect some bugs. You will need to reset your passwords, maybe some other stuff. TM

Yeah, I guess Midway changed their catalog pages since then. Looking at the Badger Ordnance latch, it appears to be the same or very close to the one I used. A little file work, enlarge the hole, and some touch up bluing and you should be good. Let us know how that works out for you, pictures are always welcome. -

Hi and welcome to Tac.22! I can't speak to that specific latch, but most AR parts won't quite fit on the Colt .22. That being said, I put a generic extended/tactical latch on mine a few years ago, it required a little fitting but was well worth the effort as I run my Colt .22 with a scope and the extended latch is a must. You can see it HERE. -
Howdy and welcome! That learning thing is a 2-way street - we all learn from each other.

It would be downright tedious. But might be a good resource and skill set to have for emergencies.

You will not churn out thousands of rounds with this kit, and you have to cast your own bullets. But hey, why not? LINK

I have a P-238, it is .380. To my knowledge that is all it can shoot, I have not ever seen or heard of conversion kits. Welcome to Tac.22 BTW.

Nice set-up Dusty, and the attention to detail that you are known for! :thumb: I used to hate sharpening knives, and I really do not like stones or any other manual method of putting an edge on steel. I have a similar belt sander, mine is a Dremel, and I found the belt speed (on mine) was a bit too fast for knives - it heats up the steel and was causing me to un-temper the blades, especially kitchen knives. I finally settled on a "Chefs Choice", it is an electric powered three-stage diamond sharpener, no adjustments to make. 1st time you sharpen a knife on this you use stage 1 to put the initial edge on the blade, then only #2 & 3 after that to touch it up. You end up with a compound edge on the blade that lasts a long time. It is not for all knives, such as sushi knives are only sharpened on one side and a serrated blade would be ruined on this sharpener. I have had this for close to 20 years, and no maintenance or service other than fabricating a new blade stop - years of sharp knives had cut into the frame of the sharpener. THIS is the model I have, (#120), although mine is chrome. Not sure what all of the other models do that this one doesn't. And of course it costs a lot more $$$ now than it did 20 years ago.
