The manual says tighten by hand, then use the supplied wrench for another 1/4 turn.

I checked NRA gun laws, couldn't find anything, Gun Genie has no problem selling one to someone in MN. I would try calling Umarex back and ask to speak with a supervisor, and ask how to get your rifle fixed. Maybe the person you spoke with was confused.
-
That, is weird. I would ask the dealer you bought it from to return it for you, then the getting it back should be no problem. I would also be calling the Dept. of Justice or what ever it is called in your state to ask for a clarification on the law - even states like Kalifornia that have draconian gun laws usually exempt .22lr firearms.

Yes, Dusty is correct. Call Umarex customer service to arrange a return, they will check the entire rifle and replace parts as needed. Contact info is on the last page of your manual.

Welcome to the forum, and truly sorry about your luck! It looks like your extractor is broken. The part in the second picture is called a "bolt", and is part of the extractor. (Part # 45 & 46) The recoils felt different because the slide was just blowing back, and not extracting the just fired brass. This is the first broken extractor that I have heard of. Good luck, and let us know how it turns out. TM Just out of curiosity, what kind of ammunition were you using?

Outstanding. I think it is the most accurate ammo I have run thru the Colt. It shot about 1.5" lower than the Federal at 50yds, but it is a heavier bullet. Truly "minute-of-chipmunk". Pricey though, $20-ish a box of 375. Federal on the left - CCI on the right
-
I don't know either - first time I have run any .22lr thru a chrono. I didn't expect that much variation. This is my 2nd chrono.... I shot my first one. But hey, it didn't work right anyway! ;D
-
Tried the new chrono out on 2 flavors of ammo, Federal bulk and CCI AR Tactical. They are advertised at 1260 and 1200 FPS respectively. The Federal (36 gn bullet) measured 1191, 1147, and 1169 for an average of 1169. The CCI (40 gn bullet) measured 1065, 1117, and 1104 for an average of 1095. Fired from a Colt/Umarex.

OK, enough talk, let's see some gun porn.

Outstanding, that will be great for reloading! :thumb:

Went to the range Sunday, and glad to say the AR is getting groups at 100 yds again. I believe the crush washer was the cause of the muzzle deposits and accuracy issues - I think it kept the barrel from threading fully into the flash hider. With the barrel all the way into the new flash hider, I have also noted a drastic decrease in muzzle report. Please see attached picture of autopsied flash hider. 4058_208c5ef8130b3e824d0aea555fc65ac63add5b04.pdf

Which forearm rail systems fit the Colt M4 .22

Got my Colt to the range yesterday, with it's new airsoft version of the 11" Troy TRX Battlerail. Worked great, no problems at all bench shooting with a rail mounted bipod. :thumb: :thumb: -
Just ordered a set of walnut grips for my Llama 9mm.

Nice shooting! There are so many factors involved in accuracy that definitive statements are pretty difficult to produce. I shoot mostly Federal bulk in my Colt M4. At 50 yards it is usually minute-of-chipmunk with that ammo. But the 36 grain bullet drops out of "hyperspace" at about 75 yards, is then sub sonic & starts to drift. So at 100 yds, Federal bulk is not so hot-in that rifle... But in my olympic trainer bolt action single shot rifle the Federal bulk works quite well at 100 yds. JMO

Well, that is certainly confusing.

Welcome, and nice job on the 597!

Howdy, & welcome.

Hi Mark, don't know about LA local, but Cheaper Than Dirt has them online for $19.46 - for 10's & 20's.

I had mine set in too far after I first got the rifle, and the spring wore badly & got kinked. New spring was $12, and Umarex told me: "Standard ammo - the bolt (adjustment screw) should be flush with the slide housing, and in four complete turns for High velocity ammo." Someone has a picture posted that showed a destroyed buffer due to running high velocity ammo with it set to the standard position.

The accuracy on my AR kept getting worse, so I took it all apart, and when I removed the flash hider and crush washer, I found random metal deposits on the muzzle crown. (see pic) There was an internal gap between the an internal ridge in the flash hider and the crown. (Due to the crush washer?) I am assuming that the gap was trapping hot gas/lead/copper and plating it on the crown, and that the deposits were causing my accuracy issue. The deposits came off easy using a lathe. So I bought a new flash hider today, and it tightens down and indexes correctly without any crush or peel washers. Question: Do I really need a peel/crush washer? I had planned on just installing it with thread locker, since it indexes correctly. The barrel is a Model 1 Sales, crown is cut at 90 degrees. Thanks! TM
