Hi guys, I've just joined a new range over here in the UK and it's the first time I ever shot outdoors. Anyway my PS22 red dot I've got on the Colt was barely visible even on the highest setting. Luckily I've got a rear MBUS on it so the day wasn't wasted. What sights do you guys use outside. Are all laser/holographic units crap in the sunshine? Is that why you see a lot of ACOG's in the desert? Cheers Glowin

They're worse than our lot over here in the UK. I've never seen anything like it. And I thought a "clip" went into fixed magazine rifles?

Cheers Microgunner. No point having the £ sign on your computer anyway, everything over here is overpriced and you probably can't buy it here anyway! I really fancy one of those Head Down Products XPR lower receivers in flat dark earth with a traditional black coloured upper. I just think it looks awesome. I've just got to find someone that sells them over here now. Think my chances will be slim to none. Glowin

Hi guys, I've been shooting for a while but have to admit my knowledge of how a rifle works is limited which is why I need your help. Over here in the UK I'd be looking at about $3000 for an AR-15 with a dedicated .22 upper so to spread costs I was thinking that I might be able to make my own by buying parts and putting them together over a period of time. So my question is would any lower receiver work with a dedicated .22 upper? Thanks guys Glowin

Maine legalizes switchblades, but only for certain people
Glowin replied to Madhouse's topic in General Talk
I got a lovely little Boker Forces Tanto folder for Christmas but as the blade locks into place I'd get arrested if I was found to be carrying it in public. Be thankful none of you don't live in the UK! :-[ Glowin -
;D or should I say 8). I knew I'd get pulled up about that by someone. Over here in the UK we don't have to wear eye protection on the range, just hearing protection. At least that's the case at my clubs. But if I want to get any sales out of America then I'll add some. I'm my own worst critic. I also noticed his rear back up site is useless.... as he doesn't have one on the front! The seam between upper and lower receivers doesn't carry on beyond the dust cover. And finally the spare mag on his belt is the wrong side for an effective speed reload! I'm fixing it right now! Cheers Glowin

I started writing illustrated stories to read to my kids at bedtime a few months back now. I base the stories on stuff I think it's important for children to know like how to safely cross the street and why you shouldn't talk to strangers. I use a self publishing website to buy copies for my children but I'm looking for a propper publisher to take them up at the moment. Anyway, as my little boy keeps asking if he can come to the range with me when he's bigger I thought I'd write a story about the five firearms safety rules. Usually my stories are centred on a character called PC Bill. The PC stands for Police Constable if you didn't know that already. He usually looks like your typical British Bobby but I thought I'd have some fun with this new story and put him in his range clothes. I hope you like him.

I am pretty happy with it, especially seeing as I live in the UK. It's nice that us shooters over here can have something nice to shoot!

I really like it. The only problem is that the M4's rails are a little too short to use it properly. I've had to cantilever it off the front end and increase the stock length to make it far enough away to hold the correct way. It fits well though :thumb: Glowin

And thank you Rodent.22. Lots of love coming my way it seems. Always appreciated. And to say thanks here's another photo of my little monster. [img width=800 height=599]http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa221/glowin20/IMG_0796.jpg

Good cheers Techmike. Nice rhyme.

I've got a 453 varmint and I love it. It's super accurate and looks great with the heavier barrel. As for me I'll be going for a Lantac LA-R15 Raven. Looks like fun!

But what it doesn't say is that in 1462 our government banned it ;D Glowin

Yeah don't forget to enlarge/move the hole for the hammer strut too. I did like the total plank that I am. Wasted journey to the range that day! >:(

Got to get me one of these! Only problem is prices start at £950! How will I get this one past the wife? Hmmmmmmmmmm ??? http://www.lannertactical.com/ Cheers Glowin

I believe the word you use in the US is "fanboy" ;D

Just saw this on the ISSC Facebook page. Looks pretty nice. Cheers Glowin

My two most recent ones. Got some XTM rail covers on the way. Fancy mounting my laser pressure switch to the top of the rail system. Anyone know if you can get Magpul type illumination kits that mount straight onto the rails? Cheers Glowin

Strangely it sounds like we can get suppressors over here in the UK easier than you guys over there. We just can't get the guns to put them on ;D If you have good reason (ie shoot on an outdoor range/farm) you can get one added to your licence and purchase one. What are the laws on the over there? I think I've seen a video of it in use and you could see that the charging handle isn't even real. I'd rather spend a bit of extra money and buy something that at least functions similarly to an AR. Glowin

That is pretty cool. I'll just have to wait and see if it comes to the UK. My next one will be either this or one of the Raven AR 15's here... http://www.lannertactical.com/ At £950 basic though I'd better start saving! Glowin

I was never too bothered by the weight but I'd definitely agree with the rest. Plus it was an awkward little b*stard when it came to what you could put through it. It was my first ever rifle though so it'll always hold a place in my heart. Like your first car or your first........ you know where I'm going :thumb: Glowin

Wonder if they'll do it in a dark earth colour (sorry color) like the SCAR? Am I allowed to mention the S word in this thread? Glowin

After our recent shootings our new Prime Minister basically said the same thing about not being able to legislate against people flipping out. I was quite impressed.... with a politician! You're lucky you can put a maximum on what you spend. Here if we want it there's no choice, you have to pay for it. They've got us by the bollox as we say. Glowin

No argument there but no government's going to turn around after a tragedy like that and say they'll stop it from happening again by allowing more people to carry firearms in public and I have to agree. If I lived in America I'd definitely apply for a concealed carry permit but there's no saying any of the teachers wound have been carrying. I didn't think any teachers were allowed to carry on campus over there anyway? Glowin
