  1. I just finished putting lead shot in my Remington 597 VTR's A2 stock and it got me thinking about whether an A2 stock will go on a Sig 522. Does anyone know?
  2. Gotta get me one of them!
  3. Just got my sig today. Had it shipped from Buds Gun Shop. I did not realize that it came in the blue foam lined case even though it is shown plain as day in the photos. On my case it states, "Date: March 30, 2010." Could the gun have been manufactured a year ago? The rifle is very nice and the quality looks pretty good. I guess I am getting used to the use of plastic on guns. It would make me feel better if the clip were metal where the bullets get stripped off when shooting.
  4. After some research, it appears that the Llama MiniMax, is not an true 1911 clone. I doubt that it would accept a conversion unit. So, that's that.
  5. Hello. I have a compact 45 1911 that I got about ten years ago and never fired. I believe it is a Llama from Spain. Solid gun. Got a bunch of Argentine .45 ammo for it, (1953 vintage), but just never took it out back to shoot it. OK, what do you guys think. Should I get a Kimber or Wilson 22 conversion for the Llama or go with the 1911 that Ati is importing? Basically, would a relatively inexpensive 45 with a good conversion kit be better than a relatively inexpensive dedicated 1911 .22? Once you have a hood conversion kit would you want one if those other guns?
  6. I have the sig 522 (picking it up tomorrow), a couple of normal semi auto .22's, (a marlin 60 and a Remington 552), a couple of bolt action .22's, an SKS, 308 Spanish Mauser, various pump, automatic, double barrel shotguns in all gauges, plus handguns, but no CCW. I wanted to have a gun for protection, but do not believe Centerfire rifles are permitted in the woods outside of hunting season, but don't know that as a fact. I thought a 22 would be nice as it would be light. My 870 is a 16 gauge with a shorty barrel and one of those big adjustable chokes on the end of it (deadly for rabbits). I got that one 45 years ago. That's the gun I always kept in the closet for home defense with buckshot shells nearby.
  7. Hello. I am thinking of going on a camping trip up in Michigan's UP. It is pretty empty up there. Thinking of bringing a .22. Any ideas?
  8. That M-1 conversion is really cool. Has anyone ever tried out the "super stock" for the 10/22?
  9. I don't know for sure if there is a different model. According to the post on the settlement with Glock, ISSC was to change the M22 so it would not be so "Glocklike." I was wondering if the"B" in M22B was the revised model. I hope not, but did not know. Was it always the M22B?
  10. A question for you guys knowledgable about pistols. I just ordered a m22. How can I tell if I will get the original Glock lookalike or the new model? Is the m22B the new model? It looks the same. I ordered the22B. The only one that Bud's Gun Shop had.
  11. I had no idea what I was doing with respect to knowing that all .22 scope grooves were not the same width. Perhaps you could give this UTG one a try and if it did not work you could eventually use it on another rifle. On my model 60, which has to be at least 30 years old, the adaptor worked like a charm. My problem is that I see double out of my right eye nowadays. I need the red dot optics. I put the target between the two red dots I see. Seems to work.
  12. Got a 30 round mag for the 597 vtr but it does not feed well until it only has about 18-20 rounds left. Is this something others have experienced? If so, is there a fix? My 10 round mag works great and so does this one once you get it down to 18. I wonder why 20 round clips are not popular. 20 rounds was standard combat clip when I was in. Of course we had those nice gold stripes and colorful patches on our uniforms too.
  13. Just type this in search: UTG 11mm to Weaver Adapter, Adjustable
  14. Hello everyone. I stopped by Walmart today to and picked up 500 rounds of Federal 40 gram solid "Lightning" brand shells. A little over $15 with tax. Decided to try them out, so went out back with my old Marlin 60 and the Remington 597 VTR. Shot them all up. One, maybe two, seemed light. I thought they performed extremely well. Here are a few photos of what it look like in my back 5 acres. I have the paper targets stapled to a sawhorse type deal I slapped together. When I ran out of targets, I just stapled up the Federal shell boxes to shoot at. I got two shelter halves that were new surplus and used them to sit and lie down at. For you Southern Boys, that white stuff is frozen water that tends to fall out of the sky 4 or 5 months of the year. We Yankees don't let it interfere with shooting.
  15. Once again, forgive the newbie in me, but do they hold tactical shoots similar to skeet and trap shoots? Or just what does everyone do to rationalize why they need that new gun or accessory? The other day I was thinking that I'd probably be classified as one of the world's largest arms dealer if I would have had the sense to spend the same amount on guns as my wife spent on shoes during our marriage. Just think if you would have made that deal before you got married! And guns look exactly the same after 30 or 40 years, whereas, ... well, you know.
  16. Hello everyone. For shooting, I go out in the back five acres and shoot at paper targets about 40 yards away. I'm not a bench rest guy, at least not yet. I like to shoot in the various positions used during army training. I'd like to shoot things that give instant feedback, then spring up for more. I would rather not hike back and forth to set things up after I (hopefully) knock them down. I like those spinning targets and just got some on ebay, but want a whole bunch. Anyone ever make them from stuff bought at home depot or found laying around? Unfortunately, I don't do welding, or the task would be easier I bet.
  17. I posted a few pictures of the Picatinny rail attachment and the Leapers Red/Green dot sight I got from Amazon in the Optics forum. I was pretty excited that I could get the sight and rail inexpensively so I would not feel guilty about spending a lot putting the sight and rail on an equally inexpensive gun. The rail attachment is really solid and nice. Fit right on the scope grooves and hangs there like it was welded to the receiver. Neat. Came with an extra Allen wrench and some screws. Don't know what the screws are for. Kept them just in case.
  18. Hello everyone. A few weeks ago, we were at Cabela's in Dundee, Michigan, and I picked up a used older Marlin 60 that had been made for Wards. While shooting it, I found that the old eyes were going and I could not focus on the front sight. Then, I learned about Red Dot scopes, bought my Remington 597 VTR and was on my way to full scale Tactical .22 addiction. I still wanted to shoot the old Model 60 so I happened to be on Amazon and picked up a Picatinny rail attachment that fit on the scope grooves of the Model 60 and a Red and Green Dot sight by Leapers. The sight looks exactly like the ones made by Truglo and others. 30mm inside diameter. However, this one cost only about $28.00 and the rail was $7.50. I received them today, and everything went on perfectly. The rail is rock solid and so is the sight. Inexpensive enough to put on even inexpensive guns. I will attach some photos.
  19. I wanted to buy a rail for my Marlin Model 60. Got it for $7.50 at Amazon. Also picked up a red dot sight cheap. They have all kinds of shooting stuff there at good prices and free shipping of you belong to their club or whatever they call it. They have a thirty day free trial on the free shipping membership. I was just surprised to find the shooting stuff there at good prices. Who knew? Actually, they partner with normal shooting supply stores and have them drop ship the goods, so you're not putting anyone out of business by buying there. (No, I don't work there or have stock in Amazon.)
  20. Welcome from Hamburg, Michigan. Gun looks great.
  21. Another urban legend is debunked. Thanks.
  22. Ok, I'm new at this buying a lot of ammo, so this is a serous question. I always read about "cheap Walmart ammo." Are they referring to Federal bulk boxed (525 rounds), or something else? Thanks.
  23. Hello and welcome. I have a Sig on the way. Green too. I'm next to Hamburg, Michigan. Everyone should know what a great State we have. We actually lost people from the 2000 census to the 2010 census. That means more room to shoot! Hope you have fun with the Sig.
  24. I was choosing between the S&W and the Sig and what made up my mind was that all the reviews mentioned that the Sig could handle all brands of ammo without a hitch. In addition, I liked the way the Sig broke down for cleaning. Should be getting mine by the end of this week, so we will see.
