rodent.22 Posted January 23, 2011 Report Share Posted January 23, 2011 The way the chamber is soldered to the barrel and tensioned into it's proper position and held there by the flash hider I doubt that any meaningful change to the tension set-up is do-able unless the lower receiver was redesigned. A lower receiver with provisions for a screw-in barrel would be required. The outer barrel shell on the Colt serves as a lower receiver extension, enabling the inner barrel and chamber to be tightened up into the receiver from the front, rather than being threaded into position at the rear of the barrel. It does seem in order to have a solid barrel, you would have to have a re-designed upper receiver assembly. I can't IMAGINE what that would cost!
