anyone know if any of the aftermarket companies are planning to release a non-tensioned based replacement barrel for the colt/umarex .22rifles.

something like the tac.sol. type 1-piece design that would accept threaded brakes would be cool.

any thoughts? rumors?

The way the chamber is soldered to the barrel and tensioned into it's proper position and held there by the flash hider I doubt that any meaningful change to the tension set-up is do-able unless the lower receiver was redesigned. A lower receiver with provisions for a screw-in barrel would be required. The outer barrel shell on the Colt serves as a lower receiver extension, enabling the inner barrel and chamber to be tightened up into the receiver from the front, rather than being threaded into position at the rear of the barrel. Hope this makes sense to you....
