Our gun club had a range maintenance day and clean-up today, I went and lent a hand. Repaired targets, picked-up trash, set up shooting postions for the 1000 yard range, then acted as a human surveyers pole as they lined up the shooting positions on the 1000 yard at 900, 800 etc yard shooting berms. Afterwards we had chili made with buffalo meat, cornbread and homemade applesauce. If the wind would have calmed down it would have been better. I'm a bit wind blown and proably burned and I think I washed enough sand off me to fill a cats litterbox. I may need a nap now  ::) Actually was a good time. We're getting the range ready for the NEW MEXICO STATE SPORTING CLAYS CHAMPIONSHIP 2011 which will be in July.

We just did the same thing a few weekends ago - spring cleaning.  A lot of weed-eating, a couple re-worked berms, new orange netting on the short-work pistol range, etc.  BBQ lunch.

Gun folks have got to be one of the best cultures in this country.

I was on RSO duty this past Sunday - there was a TSRA small bore state chamionship going on at range #1 with about 40 competitors, a 3-gun pistol competition at range #2, so I had to keep close to ranges #3 and #4 where the general members were, the competitions each had a few RSOs there.  Just before noon a youngster from the TSRA shoot walks over to where I was with a plate of brisket, beans, cole slaw and potato salad, and an ice cold Dr. Pepper.  Just plain good, quality people.
