Glowin Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 Hi guys,I've just joined a new range over here in the UK and it's the first time I ever shot outdoors. Anyway my PS22 red dot I've got on the Colt was barely visible even on the highest setting. Luckily I've got a rear MBUS on it so the day wasn't wasted. What sights do you guys use outside. Are all laser/holographic units crap in the sunshine? Is that why you see a lot of ACOG's in the desert?CheersGlowin
asmurff Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 I've heard guys complain about them here (we average 300+ days of bright sunshine a year). My only experience with laser is on my 1911A1 which has Crimson Trace laser grips on it. It is my first grab for nighttime home defense, but when I take it to the range I can see the dot out to at least 15 yards which is about as far as I practice and train with it.
imschur Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 Interesting. I have no issue with my Aimpoint, Eotech or 20 year old Tasco PDP4 outside. Have you tried a fresh name brand battery?
imschur Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 also green lasers are for outdoors in the sunlight
Glowin Posted May 11, 2011 Author Report Posted May 11, 2011 You know, it could be as simple as putting a fresh battery in it. I'll have to try. This is a PS22...http://www.carl-walther.de/index.php?company=walther&lang=EN&content=products&hid=9&uid=2&product=404Had it for about six years on my old Walther G22. Works well but it'd be nice to have an excuse to get an EOTech! ;DGlowin
Microgunner Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 I've got the Walther PS55 on my Colt M4 and it works fairly well outdoors.Genuine EOTechs work well in strong light. I can vouch for that.
