Pollux7777 Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 So I was watching a video about field stripping the rifle, and one of the first steps mention was to loosen the flash suppressor to relieve tension on a spring all the way back in the receiver?Im not really knowledgeable about m4's/ar-15's etc... but is that normal? Or something specific to this rifle? Is there some kind of a spring or something running all the way down the length of the barrel between the suppressor and the receiver? Thanks!
imschur Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 Not that is not the way an AR-15 functions. It must be specific to these rifles
rodent.22 Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 Hi! No the Umarex/Colt .22 has a barrel insert inside the external barrel you see. The flash suppressor should be loosened 2 turns to take pressure off the rear receiver pin. Remove the rear pin and the upper receiver will pivot up and give access for spray cleaning. The bolt speed spring is adjustable with the supplied Allen wrench when the upper receiver is tilted forward. There are complete instructions on this site for complete teardown and cleaning.... ;D Welcome to the forum!
Pollux7777 Posted October 7, 2009 Author Report Posted October 7, 2009 Thats interesting. How are they connected? Is there a rod or something running down the length of the barrel. Seems very unusual to me.
