asmurff Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 On impluse last week I purchased a M7 bayonet for the M16/AR-15 rifle, not that I really wanted it for ST-15 from Spike's Tactical, but because I like knives and bayonets in particular.
edgecrusher Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 , they look nice off the rifle anyway, good purchase
asmurff Posted August 8, 2011 Author Report Posted August 8, 2011 Quick question for recent Army or Marine vets, do they still issue bayonets?
bdavison Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 Quick question for recent Army or Marine vets, do they still issue bayonets?Yes, in both the Army and the Marines they are still available. The Army pretty much quit using them or issuing them unless they were needed for some special reason. The Marines are still issued them, and still learn them in Basic training. They are rarely used though. Most of the time you will only see them in use while guarding something...prisoners, honor guard, gate shacks, etc.
asmurff Posted August 9, 2011 Author Report Posted August 9, 2011 If I remember correctly, the last bayonet charge by the US Military was in the Korean War, somewhere on or near what is now Osan AB. Charge was done by the army I believe.
lmao_37 Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 That is a nice looking bayonet looks like a good deal, well it may be a long time ago that the USA had its last bayonet charge but i know during the battle of mount tumbledown during the Falklands war the British used them a couple of timesbut the Gurkha's involved in the bayonet charge would have used his kukri instead of the rifle and bayonet which would behead a man with 1 chop apparently the Argentinians ran from them http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Mount_Tumbledown
asmurff Posted August 9, 2011 Author Report Posted August 9, 2011 Hey the bayonet is what made the British Army so feared.
